Annual Report Help for Homeless is requlred by the Charity Commission to produce an Annual Report for consideration and approval by the Trustees. This report was approved by the Trustees on 23th July 2024. Objertlves and Activities The objects of the charity are: for the public benefit. the relief of poverty by providing (J5515tonce to people in need in the South West of Englond who ore ¥ittims of homelessne55. The trustees have considered the Charities Commission's guidance on public benefit. To dellver the objects. the charity provides support to street homeless persons by providing hot food and food parcels, clothing, bedding and tents distributed at regular meeting points on the street of towns in the South West of England. The charity relies on a loyal and expanding volunteer base to carry out its activities. It receives donations of food and clothlng and other e55entia15. The volunteers help to collect, process and dlstribute these donations. The HQ based team of volunteers are responsible for processin8 the donations of clothes, sortin8 and packin8 for storage those clothes suitable for distribution on the street. Those that are not suitable are sold through various platforms to raise funds for the charity. The van is then kept stocked with clothin8 Wrted into crates for eath item.

The Kitchen Team are responsible for receiving, sorting and storing food donations. They cook and prepare a IK)t meal Imain and puddin81 and a food parcel 4 times per week. The van is loaded and taken to the street meetlng point by the volunteer driver who meets the Street Team who distribute the food, clothing and other essentials. Achievements and Perfomiante Throughout the period the Charity has continued to grow Fts activities. By September 2022 the Charity was still providing its services in Bristol. Bath. Yeovil and Taunton. Help for Homeless a￿ now providing clothin& bedding, hot meals and food partels in; Bristol monthly to clrca 50 people. Bath weekly to circa 30 people, Yeovll weekly to circa 25 people and Taunton weekly to circa 25 people. By September 2023 the charrty had a volunteer base of circa 60, helplng wlth clothes and food donations, cooking and preparirbg food, driving and distribLrting on the street. Regular donations of food and clothin8 have become the norm from a number of local individuals and busine55e5 including farm shops, bakers, and wholesale food outlets. At Christmas 41 surplus turkeys were donated byThe Newt in Somerset which are all prepared and cooked and the meat frozen for use in future meals. Significantfood donation were also received during this period from Mr Or8anlc and The Country Food Trust. During the period the charity raised the funds from a number of fund raising initiatives including,. a Garden Open event at Bush Farm attrartive circa 150 people, Downside School'sleep out, and a Boxing Day Meet catering event. The bespoke commercial kltchen developed in 2022 ha5 been a significantdevelopment forthe charity and has enabled the efflcient malntenance of food safety Standards as well as allowing volunteers more freedom to come and go. The Charity usesthe kitchen for itsown needsforjust 3.5 daysofthe week and at the beginning of Sept 23 It Secured a tenant for the remainin8 3.5 days of the week by lettin8 the surplus space to Teals for use as a production kitchen and in so doing sharin8 the costs of rent and electricity. The charity now also offers those who have managed to secure accommodation help with furnishing and e55entials. Accommodation will be entirely unfurnished. Through donations of furniture, electrical item5 and kitchen essentials help for Homeless can fumish a flat with whavs needed to get people started. Through its local network of Social Workers help for Homeless furnished 14 flats or other accommodation during the period. In Feb 2023 lona White was awarded the Somerset Chairs Award for Services to the Community 2022 Flnanclal Review The financial position of the Charity for the period is shown in the financial statements.

Durin8 the period the Charity received unrestricted income throu8h donations and fund raising artivities of £51,433 up from £45,935 in the previous year. Expenditure for the period similar to last year at £25,645. of which £7,089 wa5 spent on food and £1,512 on clothing. After other costs there was a surplus for the period of £19.330. Strurturej govemance and management The charity was established in May 2020 wllh reglstratlon with the Charities Commission. It is constStuted as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and Is governed by the trustee5 under the terms of Its Conslltutlon of a CIO last amended on 25, September 2019. The charity has 4 trustees. It may recrult one more trustee and will do so under the provlslons of Clause 9 of the Constitution. INDEPENDENTEXAMINER, REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF HELP FOR HOMELESS I ￿pOrt to the charity tru5tee5 on my examination of the accounts of Help for Homeless for the year ended 305eptember 2023. RESPECTIVE RESPONSIBIUTIES OF TRUSTEES AND EXAMINER The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts and consider that an audtt is not required for this year under sertion 144 of the Charities Act 2011 {the Charltles Actl and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responslbility to: Examlne the accounts under sertion 145 of the Charities Act- To follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under Section 1451511bl of the Charities Act: and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. BASIS OF INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT My examination was carried out in accordance with the general direttrons given by the Charity Commi55ion. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and compari50n of the accounts presented with those records. It also Includes consideratlon of anv unusual item5 Qr distlosures in the accounts and seeking explanatlons from the trustees cOn￿rnIng any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is 8iven as the whether the accounts present 'true and fairf view and the report 15 limited to those matters set out in the statement below. INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S STATEMENT I have completed my examination. ACCOUNTING POUCIES a5is of Preparation These accounts have been prepared on the receipts and payments basis. Receipts Receipts for the general purposes of the Charity are credited to unrestricted funds. Receipts subject to specific wishes of the donors are carried to relevant restricted funds. Restrlrted Funds The restricted fund Van Appeal are donation5 restrirted for the purpose of purchasin8 a van and fitting it out to provide hot food.
