Dear Kate and Susie

Ahead of the LMR AGM on 11 July, I have put together the (really very simple) draft accounts for the year, using the HMRC format as it looks like we shall have to submit an HMRC tax return again for 2021‐22. It’s also as good a format as any to record these relative straightforward transactions.

As you can see, between 1 June 2021 and 31 May 2022 we received one major donation and 13 small donations via JustGiving. I don’t know if we have any insight on who the JustGiving donors are – there were 11 monthly donations of £28.83 (oddly not one in January), plus two separate other donations of £7.12 (21 Dec) and £58.06 (24 Dec). I assume these payments come after JustGiving have added gift aid but deducted their commission.

On the expenditure side, there was just the one grant to Mill Road Saturdays of £1,094.79.

This all means that there was £1,287.52 more in the bank account at 31/5/22 than there was at 31/5/21.

Please let me know if any questions, otherwise would you both be happy to sign them off at the AGM on behalf of all the trustees, assuming the other trustees are happy with these accounts too?

For info, at this level we don’t need an independent examiner of the accounts (annual income would need to be over £25,000).

Many thanks

Martin

## Chair of Trustees’ Annual Report 2021-2022

The constraints of the Covid pandemic continued throughout the first part of the year, but community activities are once again underway.

The principal activities funded by Love Mill Road were:

- **Mill Road Saturdays** – the 2021 alternative to the Mill Road Winter Fair. Three small scale, Covid safe events were held in place of the Fair on the first Saturday in the months of October, November and December 2021. They comprised craft stalls and live music and displays of community bunting made by local charities (The Edge Café, Rowan, Jimmys, WinterComfort and Mill Road WI). Funding from Love Mill Road supported workshops to make the bunting and the costs associated with its display at both Petersfield and The Edge Café. Love Mill Road also supported the development and promotion of an ‘I-Spy Mill Road’ trail as part of Mill Road Saturdays, which encourages people to explore Mill Road at their leisure, discovering the shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants.

- **Mill Road Repair Café** – this will be held on 9 July at The Edge Café

- **Mill Road Fringe** – a series of events are planned for this year’s Fringe and Love Mill Road anticipates funding the associated costs. Unfortunately the Summer Shindig event on Romsey Rec was cancelled due to rain, but the cancellation ensured that costs were minimal. Other events planned are a mini film festival (September 23-24[th] ), a poetry evening and two music gigs in local pubs along Mill Road.

There has been a change to the Board of Trustees. Richard Wilson has stood down and we thank him for all his support in the early days of setting up the charity. We have invited Gail Sawyer to join Love Mill Road as a Trustee. Gail is the manager of the Edge Café, Cambridge’s Recovery Hub for supporting people to manage struggles with addiction or their mental health.

We are starting to discuss new ventures, for instance with Lifecraft (a potential link up with the Gwydir Street Residents’ Association), and have (just) received a new application fro funding from ‘The Stones’ - Gateway to India project.

Our income has been boosted by a further £2,000 donation from The Binks Trust. We plan to start to approach local businesses to seek support during the forthcoming financial year
