TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST AUGUST 2022
In June 2022 the trustees agreed to change the name of the charity from Northern Gospel Powerhouse to Northern Gospel Project.
City Church Manchester CIO (Charity Reg No 1157448) continued to hold and disburse funds related to the Northern Gospel Project initiative during this financial year. The funds were held in a restricted fund and the accounts for this period will be submitted by City Church Manchester CIO. A bank account for Northern Gospel Project was opened in July 2022. For the next financial year the restricted fund held by City Church Manchester CIO will be closed and all funds will be transferred to the Northern Gospel Project account. Northern Gospel Project will work with Connect Supply Limited to ensure correct accounting records for the CIO starting September 2022.
Northern Gospel Project appointed a Project Manager in February 2022 on an initial one year 0.2 contract to aid the public launch of the Northern Gospel Project and the launch conference. The Project Manager salary was paid out of the restricted fund held by City Church Manchester CIO. The launch conference will take place in November 2022.
Training
The Northern Gospel Project initiative has continued to train church planters. The City to City Incubator completed its first cohort of church planter training. It was possible for the cohort to meet in-person on a number of occasions.
The Manchester Planters Collective returned to meeting in-person. Nine church planters were involved and it was an invaluable resource for training, encouragement and mutual accountability.
Caring
Gospel Coaching was provided for planters enrolled on the City to City Incubator using coaches trained and accredited by Church Multiplication Ministries. A number of other church planters throughout the UK were also coached by coaches working through the Northern Gospel Project.
Funding
The trustees are finalising the criteria for the award of grants from the City Renewal Fund (funds currently held by City Church Manchester CIO). It is anticipated that these will be agreed at a Trustees Meeting before the end of 2022 and the first grants will be made in June 2023.

TRUSTEES’ REPORT (CONTINUED) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST AUGUST 2022
Trustees’ Responsibilities
The Charities Act 2011 requires trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the CIO and the surplus of the CIO for that period. In preparing those financial statements the trustees are required to:
-
Select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently
-
Make judgments and estimates that are reasonable and prudent
-
Prepare financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the trust will continue in existence.
The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records, which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the CIO. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the CIO and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
Approved by the Trustees on …………10/02/2023…………………………….
