Harford Ex-Students Association (HExSA) Trustees Report and Financial Activities For Year Ending 31[st] March 2023

Organisational structure

HExSA is formed by ex-students of Hartford School for girls Moyamba residing in the UK and Ireland. Harford Ex-Students Association (HExSA) is committed to on-going projects supporting education of girls at Harford Secondary School for girls in Moyamba, Sierra Leone. The purpose of HExSA is to advance the education of girls at the school, by providing equipment, resources and facilities for education and relieve financial hardship of girls by providing scholarships and financial support to girls in need.

The Trustees have in place a system of control for the authorisation, payment and monitoring of programmes and activities.

HExSA wishes to bring new life and hope to school-going children attending Harford School for girls in Moyamba by providing them with the key skills which will empower them to transform their lives and reach their potentials.

General Summary/ financial activity summary

Following on from last years’ event and our last financial submission, the charity actively engaged in 3 fund raising activity to plead for donations to enable us to meet our set goals.

For this financial year, we recorded income of £10.580 in this financial year ending 31[st] March 2023. We spent £19,861.76 during the period under review. This breaks down to £19000 paid towards our Borehole project at the School in Moyamba, £ 400 to get a computer for the charity and we spent £150 towards payment machine for our charity events. We also paid a yearly subscription of £311.76 to Zoom cost.

Our Strategic Objectives

Due to lack of income and the effect of the pandemic, we were unable to meet all our strategic objectives in full. We recognise that there are still much to do in the coming financial year.

Future Plans

Thanks to our donors

Harford Ex-Student Association relies heavily on funding from donors and fundraising activities to make a difference to the lives of our girls in Moyamba. We wish to thank all our donors for supporting us and believing in our objectives during this financial period.

We also wish to thank our small team of volunteers/members who serve in various ways and capacities round the clock, endlessly and tirelessly, to ensure that the strategic goals of our charity are met.

The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees Annual Report and the financial statements in accordance with Charities Commission and the Statement of Recommended Practice in the United Kingdom.

The law applicable to charities in England and Wales, the Charities Act 1993, Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provisions of the trust deed requires trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources, including the income and expenditure, of the charity for that period.
