The charity operates with a board of trustees plus additional members forming a management committee representing the charity at each of the managed sites. Central policies and procedures are applied for consistency across the remote sites, a formal regular inspection procedure is applied to highlight and manage standards highlighting risk areas for Risk Management control.
All charity members are affiliated to the National Society for Allotment & Leisure Gardeners (NSALG) who help support the membership by offering insurance, legal advice, qrtly e-magazine and discounted gardening supplies. In addition, members are offered a discounted 3[rd] party £5 million pound liability cover for family and close friends when attending the allotments are requirement to satisfy agreed terms of their tenancy.
All sites are registered members of B.A.V.O offering a wide range of support to the sites and it’s BCAA membership.

Activities this year include improving document management, creation of standardised processes and procedures offering fairness to all our members. Actively promote BCAA on social media as such acting as a central contact point for Allotment availability enquiries. This year have again answered an everincreasing number of enquiries. Advantage of centrally managing membership and waiting list statistics offer a view of the growing demand for allotment space in the county.
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)
Formed a funding role to actively seek out local, County and Welsh Government funding for our managed allotment sites. During 2024 secured Welsh Government funding to further improve wheelchair access, internal pathways and create secure boundaries for a communal area with raised beds for access by those with poor mobility.
All Trustees have been kept informed of all communications and guidance issued by the Charities Commission.

Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
Main achievements include creating a stable group of Trustees to fulfil our objectives, with nominated volunteers to manage various activities on behalf of the membership, specifically a funding officer. 4 sites are actively improving access for schools/disabled members communal gardening areas, submitting applications for local Government Grant funding. Completed 2023/24 grant funded projects resulting in sites having improved internal access to member plots. Actively sought out local, County and Welsh Government funding for our managed allotment sites. Early 2023 secured Welsh Government funding of £20,000 for 4 sites 2024/25 to improve security fencing, create wheelchair friendly car park, pathways and communal area with raised beds and seating for access by those with poor mobility, encouraging improved social interaction for all. Unfortunately, due to required permissions and time constraints £15k had to be forfeited, namely Wheelchair friendly car park and security fencing. Related transactions will be reflected in year 2025 report. Actively investigating the feasibility of setting up communal water harvesting stations to supplement water storage at each site, reducing demand for mains accessible water on allotments, encouraging self-sufficiency, reducing cost to the membership while protecting long term future of an ever-increasing precious commodity. Actively promoting the need for eco friendly consideration at all sites.

Applications for further Welsh Government funding in 2024 for period 2025/2026 has been granted in part to the value of £8,000. to be allocated to replace security fencing. Future funding for outstanding wheelchair friendly car park project is being sought.
