Structure, Governance and Management
Shared Vision is governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of five members responsible for the strategic direction and compliance of the charity.
The charity remained financially dormant during the reporting period. Trustees continued preparatory work to enable future operations.
Attempts to open a bank account were unsuccessful due to trustee eligibility requirements. Steps are being taken to recruit additional trustees to meet banking criteria.
Objectives and Activities
I. To promote the effectiveness and efficiency of charitable entities, particularly user-led disability charities, by providing support, training and representation.
II. To promote the human rights of people with disabilities in Sierra Leone, including implementation of the Persons with Disabilities Act 2011 and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).
The trustees confirm they have had regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.
Activities, Achievements and Performance
The charity remained financially dormant with no income or expenditure.
However, the charity:

Established partnerships with Sierra Leone Union on Disability Issues (SLUDI) and National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD)

Conducted mediation efforts in SLUDI conflict

Produced a mediation report and made recommendations for the settlement of an impasse within the union

Created the All Political Party Disability Alliance (APPDA) as a project to assist in building the capacity of the disability wings of major political parties in Sierra Leone, in order to enhance the participation of the disabled in the party politics of the country.

Facilitated dialogue between SLUDI factions, in order to find a resolution to the conflict within the entity, which was nearly leading to its collapse.
Ongoing conflict has delayed programme implementation.

The charity held no funds and required no reserves policy during this period.
Plans for Future Periods

Support self-employment among disabled people in Sierra Leone, because according to the government of Sierra Leone, 75% if disabled people in employment are self-employed. - Assist in resolving SLUDI conflict, in order to prevent its collapse as a union that has a long track record of advocating for the rights of disabled people and disabled people organisations (DPO).

Collect in the UK mobility aids, such as wheelchairs and crutches, and distribute them in Sierra Leone.

Organise advocacy training for disabled people in Sierra Leone, so that they can advocate for their peers.
Operations will begin once a bank account is established and funding secured.
