GOVERNING DOCUMENT
Scunthorpe Mens Shed is a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) governed by its constitution.
Scunthorpe Mens Shed was register with the Charities Commission on the 05/05/2020.
RECRUiTMENT AND APPOINTMENT OF TRUSTEES
Any new trustees are elected by the existing Trustees at a Trustees meeting of which all members of the charity are advised in advance.
The Constitution of the Charity states that there must be at least three charity Trustees.
TRUSTEES INDUCTION AND TRAINING
All trustees are provide with the Charity Commission’s Roles and Responsibilities of Trustees.
ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE
The Trustees manages the Charity and aims to consider decisions for the good of the Charity at its meetings, any conflict of interest must be declared and recored. The charity has at least four meetings a year and the AGM in January.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
To promote social inclusion for the local community, by preventing the members of our local community from becoming socially isolated and to improve their well being. By providing a safe environment to participate in learning new skills or passing on their skills to others, by joining in other activities day trips out on canal boat trips, afternoon tea at the Peatland Railway enjoying a train ride and trips to Santoft vehicle museum. The Charity welcomes all members of the the community to come and visit the shed and they are encourage to participate in the sheds many activities such as wood turning, building items form wood, sharing there ideas over refreshments.
OBJECTIVES FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR
The shed is always looking to expand its membership and improving the ways we can help members.
Improve the shed’s environment by purchasing an air filtration system
To look for more permeant premisses
Develop our facilities and activities to support a wider range of the community
To advertise and increase our membership
ACHIEVEMENTS
Our membership has continued to increase to 31 member which includes 5 Shedettes who attend on a Thursday
Installed an alarm system to protect our assets
The shed is a member of the shed alliance with 16 other sheds in the North Lincolnshire and North Humberside area
We are a member of the UKMS association
Completed an outside reading area with planters, benches, stools and a mobile wooden library for West School
Continued on individual training PAT testing, Fire courses,
Purchased a Laser printer through a grant and training is ongoing
Had a very successful day in our local library inviting the local community to build bird boxes, 25 built
The Charity has improved its income through grants, donations and membership and has enough reserve to cover both major and unavoidable running costs approximately £2,100
