Annual report 2024 Para 1.17 as 2021 plus the following

We have seen a gradual increase in membership despite the fact that we have once again had to postpone our open day.

The open day was postponed when our landlord was advised by the local council that the premises were earmarked for repurposing as a housing estate. Although no action date has been given we enter 2024 in search of new premises. Our intention is to secure premises with a longer and more stable tenure which will then allow us to continue to maintain our aims and purposes and provide a safe environment for the lonely and disadvantaged members of our adult community. Along with obtaining the new premises we will be able to plan an open day and with publicity increase our ability to operate as a service to the community.

I want to thank the trustees for their continued support through this last year and for stepping up following the sad loss of one of our founding members and trustee, John Sparrow, who’s input and support had been significant.

Para 1.17 and 1.19 as 2021 Para 1.18. As 2021

Para1.38. As 2021 plus the following

A management committee is voted in annually comprising members and trustees to manage the day to day running of the Shed this committee reports to the trustees. The committee organise the running of the shed and are responsible for locking up and safety and is a good place for members to discover skills at organising and managing activities.

Para 1.20

We have completed our third year as guests of the lease holder of the main building and have a good working relationship with them.

However the local council have advised the leaseholder that the buildings and land have been designated for demolition and redevelopment for housing, there is no fixed date put it is

impending

The shed have spent much time in seeking alternative premises without success to date. Despite this setback we have continued to grow our membership year on year and now include a ladies workshop day which is well attended.

Our current membership level has required the shed to open an additional day each week and this is also an indicator that we are outgrowing the space that we have available During the year we have been able to upgrade and replace machinery with the aid of grants and donations and the sale of goods made by the shed members.

We organise frequent visits to other sheds and visit a canal boat charity for canal rides throughout the year and organise trips to heritage railway groups and other like organisations. These are well attended and much appreciated by our members.

We also have links with local community groups and seek to work with them in promoting well being and safe places where we are able to meet and feel safe and be assisted in integration into society.

Para 1.41

To resolve the impending closure of the premises that host the Charity we are actively seeking the help in finding suitable alternative premises Approaches are being made to our local MP, the local town council, Humber and Wolds Action Group ( who have been a great source of help and encouragement since the Charity was first formed), the media and local Businesses.

Our aim is to continue to improve the facilities and the working environment for the members.

Future funding activity will be divided between the unknowns related to making new premises fit for purpose when they are obtained and also to continue to improve the experience and the environment for our members.
