## **Nutley Memorial Trust Charitable Incorporated Organisation** ## **Chair’s Annual Report 2024** Hello. I am Simon Coleman. Now into my fourth year as Chairman of the Nutley Memorial Trust CIO. The Nutley War Memorial Trust was set up in 1948. As well as providing and managing the Nutley War Memorial Hall facilities, the Trust is also instrumental in providing other village facilities acting as Landlord to Nutley Tennis and Squash Club, Nutley Bowling Club, and Nutley Social Club. In 2021 the Trust changed its name to become the Nutley Memorial Trust CIO. The Nutley Memorial Trust CIO will continue to provide and run facilities for the benefit of Nutley residents and the surrounding area just as it has always done. This year, though still quite challenging, has seen a steady increase in bookings, to the point that we are now happily, back to pre-Covid numbers and still increasing. This, coupled with grants secured by our trustees, has enabled us to carry out both necessary repairs and improvements to the hall building and also to make it more economically and ecologically viable (It is over 50 years old now) We are at last on a stable financial footing, after years of hand to mouth expenditure, caused in the main, by the dreaded Covid years. Having already been able to replace our old heating system, we have now been able to obtain funding to fit double glazed windows and repoint areas of weathered pointing. Improvements include an electricity storage system to connect to our solar panels, which will make winter and nighttime use of the Hall more economical and eco-friendly. We are however, always looking to obtain further grant funding in order to further improve and repair our lovely hall. Amateur dramatics continue to be a big draw and we hope to see many plays over coming years. Other uses of our Hall include Nutley Pre School, Karate, Rock and Roll, dancing and yoga. We also pleased to host both Brownies and Guides. This is by no means a full list of the activities, and we are always looking to add further bookings. With our nice warm Hall and smaller rooms also available for hire, our state of the art audio visual system with a 4 metre video screen and blue tooth connectivity, we are able to cater for just about anything. So, if you want to dance, sing, have a jumble sale or put on a film, please have a look on our website, or contact Niki for bookings and prices. We are still looking to increase the number of Trustees, in order to increase our skills base and gain new ideas, to assist us in the everyday running of the Trust. If you feel that this would be something you could help with, please contact us. Furthermore, if you feel able to make a donation to the upkeep of the Memorial Hall, no matter how small, please contact one of the Trustees.
