The covid situation has derailed lots of our intentions although we did meet via zoom
and we remain positive as a group albeit only a small group of Lions. Donations were made to us from Tesco Groundwork and Thoresby Charitable Trust so we can forge ahead with the new sleigh project. Numerous donations have been made to wide and diverse projects in the community and afar.
Scouts, Football Clubs and a Rounders team within the sports section. Ongoing work with the Refuge centre in the area also ongoing work with the ROPE project
who provide household items free to families, men and women who have fled domestic abuse or have been homeless rough sleeping. One example paid for a carpet for a young family coming out of the refuge. Portland College received a donation to help them in lockdown to purchase indoor and outdoor games and activities. Gleaning in the area and all produce given to 2 local food banks. Donated Easter eggs to children at Kingsmill Hospital and Ollerton & Boughton Young Peoples centre.
Demolished a Church Rooms kitchen and gave donation for refurbishment.
Gave Books for Schools to ALL local schools in the area.
Helped the local radio with a donation to help them start up (BOWE) Within the Lions we entered a boy in the Young Ambassador competition who has Crohn’s disease for his work and raising money for the Sheffield Hospital Trust.
Entered one school into the Lions ROAR 2021 competition. Ongoing project with Specsavers and the public recycling spectacles. Afar we have helped the Lebanon disaster, Brain Tumour Research & Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
