## **FISH VOLUNTEER CENTRE (Reg. Charity No. 1189325) Treasurer’s Report 2025-26 Commentary**

## **For the period April 2025 – March 2026**

FISH Volunteer Centre (FISH), charity number 1189325, is an incorporated charity with a gross income of less that £250,000 per annum. The annual accounts are reported as Receipts and Payments with a year-end assets and liabilities statement.

FISH appointed a new treasurer this past financial year; Sally Roark replaced Helen Fitchett who advised she was stepping down in summer 2025. FISH has a healthy financial position.

The minibus is likely to have to be replaced in the next few years; a depreciation model forecasts FISH needs to achieve excess income per annum of £10,000 a year to cover a new minibus every seven years, which we have consistently achieved. We have been looking to update and improve our computer booking system in the past financial year, unfortunately this has not progressed as was hoped this financial year. Thankfully the provider of our current booking system has been more responsive recently, as such we continue to work with our legacy system. A new website is currently being developed.

FISH would like to thank all the people who have donated or regularly donate to our Charity.

During 2025-2026 the **INCOME** was £51,232.12. This is approximately 16.5% higher than the previous year 2024-2025 when the income was £43,970.81.

Most of this increase was the result of an increase in Gift Aid. Gift Aid including GASD claims were submitted for all outstanding years resulting in £8,625 being paid in Gift Aid this past financial year. It is worth noting that our annual Gift Aid income based on annual Donations is circa £3,000. 2024-2025 annual accounts did not include any Gift Aid income. **INCOME** annualising Gift Aid for current financial year income was consistent with previous year (within 3%).

NB: Accounts include £116 overpayment by HMRC to be offset in next Gift Aid payment.

While we saw significantly lower Memory Donations; this was offset by Corporate/Charity donations and growth through the Minibus service (hire and bus passes). The car driving income was relatively steady at £8,900 for the year; compared with £8,388 last year. These figures exclude donations by drivers of unclaimed mileage allowances; allocated to Donations at £2,350. (Over 80% of drivers donate some or all of the time).

The investment account with the United Trust Bank and the two deposit accounts with NatWest have earned us a total of £6,269.32 in interest, 12.9% increase in the year. (mainly due to higher account balances).

**PAYMENTS** for the year were £20,314.87, consistent with the previous year total of £20,616.34.

To note: Office Expenses were circa £2,000 higher than previous year (IT system work and Team Building), however Minibus costs were circa £2,000 lower (Servicing and Repairs).

The resulting **SURPLUS** for the year April 2025 – March 2026 was £30,917.25 compared to £23,354.04 last year. **SURPLUS** annualising Gift Aid is consistent with previous year at £25K 25/26 compared to £26k 24/25.

The total of the bank balance and investments at the end of the year was £202,264.36 with petty cash of £474.42.

## This allows **RESERVES** as follows:

New Minibus Reserve: £120,000 IT Reserve: £30,000 New Building Fund: £10,000.

This leaves £42,264.36 in the general fund.

## **NOTES**

Thank you again to David Whitehead who collects all the cash and cheques from the office, pays them into the bank and records the transactions on the receipts and payments spreadsheet.

And to Brian Cresswell who is the Independent Examiner of our accounts,

Treasurer: Sally Roark 14th April 2026
