Trustee selection method
Trustees are elected annually by members of the charity. All Trustees are required to be a member of the charity. All Trustees stand down at the end of the financial period but may put themselves forward for re-election. There is no limit on how many years a Trustee may serve.
3.0 Objectives and Activities
Charity’s objectives
The Objectives of the Club are such purposes as are exclusively charitable in England & Wales, including in particular:
The relief of poverty and the relief of those in need in particular by providing humanitarian aid and disaster relief.
Encouraging service-minded people to serve their community without personal reward.
Encouraging members to take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.
Supporting youth to develop their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals.
Charity’s activities
The charity’s primary activity is to raise money from the public and return the money back to the public by making grants to worthy causes. The club operates mainly in the local Lancaster and Morecambe area but also supports wider humanitarian aid and disaster relief across the world through Lions Club International.
All monies raised from the public are returned to the public. All members of the charity give their services for free and all of the clubs administration costs are paid for by the charity members.
In addition to giving out grants the charity operate a Food Club, assisting local people in food poverty. The Food Club operates from St James Church Hall Heysham every Thursday.
The charity also operates a dementia club with the aim of providing advice and support to dementia carers.

In carrying out their duties, the Trustees of the charity have had regard to the guidance issued by the commission on public benefit.
4.0 Achievements and Performance
The Charities fund raising activities were severely restricted throughout the financial period due to the government Covid 19 restrictions.
However the club managed to carry out many of its charitable activities during the year as listed below
The charity had to stop operating its dementia club but the Food Club was able to continue operating throughout the lockdown.
Once every week we feed the homeless through Morecambe Angels.
From May 2020 to July 2020 once a week we fed the Big Kids Circus trapped in Morecambe due to Covid-19.
We supply sleep pods and sleeping bags to the homeless in both Morecambe and Lancaster through Morecambe Angels and Lancaster Homeless Action.
We supplied the homeless with food vouchers through Lancaster Homeless Action.
We supplied a freezer to a needy single mother.
We supplied Furniture, white goods, kitchen goods, food & clothing to 2 different fire victims.
We supplied food to a family with 9 children whose benefits had been stopped.
We supplied food to a needy man and his dog through Social Services.
We helped families when a house exploded in Morecambe, with ferrying them around to get needed medications and then also taking clothing, etc to a collection point for families.
We did a litter picking along the river Lune tidal area and on Morecambe beaches.
Collected and donated stamps to RNIB.
Collected and donated plastic tops for recycling to a group in Morecambe.
Collected and donated medicine blister packs for recycling to a group in Carnforth.
Donated to the Lebanon Disaster Relief.
We helped an abused man and his family in Preston with household goods and clothes.
We donated some monies towards a fridge and cooker for a needy man in Morecambe.
We donated £200.00 towards a shed for Barnardo’s Morecambe Foyer (supported living unit) for the storage of household goods and bedding for the flats for the young people.
We donated money to Homeless Action for food shopping.
