## **2. Trustees Report** 

The trustees confirm that a benefit to the public is of paramount importance, in all our work supporting young persons to participate in artistic activity and in particular Dance. 

Our aim is to support young people to participate in artistic activity, particularly dance, when they may otherwise be unable to start or continue their involvement due to financial hardship. It is paramount this involvement continues in a safe and supportive environment, where all involved are treated equally, fairly and respectfully. 

## **- 2.1 Achievement and Performance 2021 2022** 

We achieved registration with the Charity Commission on 23[rd] April 2020, a month after the first lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic began.  This had an impact on everyone, including the closure of all Dance Schools.  It was also impossible to hold our launch event, at the Bridge House Theatre, Warwick. 

The show was planned as both a celebration of Barbara O’Rourke’s 40-year involvement with Dance in the Leamington area and as the formal launch of The Barbara O’Rourke Arts Foundation. Sadly, this event had to be postponed many times as we moved through 2020, 2021 and into 2022. We were optimistic however, that we would have a new date confirmed for the Autumn of 2022 and are pleased to be in the planning stage of a different and exciting launch event named “We Can Dance”. 

Hosted by the Royal Priors Shopping Centre, we will be holding a day celebrating local children’s dance performances in partnership with Leamington & Warwick Academy of Dance and the Leigh-Anne Campbell's School of Dance, along with the support of high achieving performers in the music and arts industry, namely Hannah Woof, Eleanor Brown and Will Moore. 

The proposed format for the launch event will be a series of dance performances and workshops, held throughout one day on 27 November 2022 (10:30 to 16:00) of local children performing dance pieces in the Royal Priors Shopping Centre. A public participation element could be incorporated, inviting children to experience a dance class, possibly for the first time.

We are optimistic that “We Can Dance” will promote the charity well and also help to raise funds on the day. 

We have been working closely with the Warwick County Council’s CAVA and recognise their support to re-ignite our commitment to support children in dance from families who are financially challenged. We anticipate an increased need for the support of young people in extra-curricular activity as an ongoing impact of the pandemic and as a result of the economic inflation placing increased demands on family budgets.

## **3.1 Reserves Policy** 

As a newly formed charity, the Trustees operate BORAF on the basis of a 3 month reserve policy. The policy has been established with reference to Charity Commission guidance CC19.
