Summary of tho main
achievements of th• charity
during tho yoar
We have continued to promote altemab.ves to driving and education
information on the benefits of active travel to schcd.
Our websrte and engagemerrt on social media continues to be a key fomi
for dissemination of our educational material and raising awareness of
the effeL* of air pollution from car traffic and car idling on health and
y￿1￿)8•ng. In addttion to Instagram and X, we are now present on
Blu8sky social media and are planning to OP8n a Linkedin account. We
provided infomiation on the benefits of active travel and various means to
achieve this. rdnging from walking and cycling, walking buses, to park
and stryde. We r£Jntinue to pr(xJuce a newsletter during th8 school year
vthich we disseminate to schools and parents.
We continued to supwrt and trjllaborate with the Camd8n Blke
Bus,which stsrted in Spn'rrfJ 2024. We conts'nued to digitally sharo our
Getting to school guid& whlth we distributed directy to IoG31 schools and
the wider communty through our website.
During the year, we updated our Gethng to sctr￿1 guide to indude new
cyde lanes and public trdnsport details and printed and distributed th8m
to local schools.
During the first part of the year Ihe ctharity o)nlinued on th8 Very
challenging endeavour to bring about improvements to a local bus
service spe¢rfKally designed for th8 school run linking a number of
neighbourirvJ areas not connected by other fomis of public trans￿rL
H(Y4vever, the bus service has been found to be inadequate ty par8nts
and local r8sid8nts. in terms of Ix)th tts tim8tab18 and frgqU8ncy. This has
made it unreliable and of Ilmlted use for the school run. and effectively
not being used sufficienty with many parents continuing to have to rely
on cars and contributing to sdK)ol run air pollutlon. Gregn School Runs
increased the Msibilty of the Campaign, involved MO￿ volunteers and
was able to secure meetlrvJs wllh Camden and Haringey councillors. Thls
effort L¥)ntinues with regular meetsngs held to revlse strategy and actlons.
Throwoul the year. wo have o)ntinued our Park & Stride system in
conjundion with a local major swping centre whith provided free
parklng spaces for the moming and afternoon sthool drop off and pick up
'mes for ktal sCh￿)IS. This enabled parents with no optbon but to drive,
to Park ts free for a limited period of time fvrther away from the schools
and then 'stride' with their children tolfrom school. Thus reduclng the
number of cars at the school gates whith would have reduc8d air
pollutlon, traffic ¢￿geStIOn and enabled klds to walk part of the distsnce
to school and thus also experiencang the health benefits of active travel.
The scheme was awarded a grant from Ihe Camden Climate Fund to
promote 8nd expand its Park and Stiide stheme and to establish new
partherships with parking lot owners and providers.
In M8rth 2024 Green School became a member of Hampst8ad
Transport partnership, a community group trying to design a holistic
vision of trdffic measures for the wards of Hampstead and Fitz and
Frognal. Green SchoL4 Runs volunteer5 are ciynmrtted to attend regular
meetings and to gtve Ih8ir contribution to tt)is effort.
Another propct the charity fc#￿&s8d on during 2024 has bean tha
promotion of walking buses as an altemativè means for school children to
reach school. A walking bus OP￿￿eS in very much the same way as a
nonnal bus, picking students up from a drop off I0￿￿on arHJ taking th8m

together to school in the moming. It is run by bus 'drivers' ie a gfOUP of
adults from each schcrf)I accompany the chikI￿n. Adults are usually
volunteers from the school comnwnty such as sthod staff, parents.
grafKlparents, child minders. The walking bus will h81p lo reduce the
amount of cars and people at the school gate. ma￿.ng social distancing
easier, the air deaner. and uttj'mately all the children at the school safer.
The tharity prepared a training video and our volunteers undertook
walking and safety trainiThJ with Camden cC￿nCIl. ran a school assembly
and piloted a walking bus for a local school. Unfortunalely, th8 walking
bus did not cnntinue due to lack of parents volunteers.
During the London Mayoral election, we partnered with the chaiity Mums
for Lungs in a campaign asking the mayoral candidates to commit to
clear targets and Infonnation on alr quality in the uty of London.
In September 2024. Green School Runs, became pathèr of The Year of
Clean Air for Camden Sch(y)Is 2024-2025, and was approved for a grant
to deliver s(knol assemblies and 8ducationel materials.

and was abl8 to Se￿jr8 sthool wsits for the following Spring. The core of
the prqect wiu be delivered in ￿ first t￿f of 2025.
Wllh the start of the 2024 -2025 Academic year. we strengthened our
relationship with tharity Sofve the Schwl Run and we hope to deliver
some activib.es together in the future.
Green School Runs rxntinues its support for the implementation of
Cycling Lanes and School Str88ts (streets around sthools with rèstrictod
traffic durfng school off and pith up hours of the day) in th8 local
area and actively informed on their health benefits, especially in the
context of the school run. via our social medra channels. We continued to
seek engagement with local enttiies in order to expand ihe available
¢yding routes during the scl)ool run. and lo ask for So￿re pedestrian
cr￿$s1ng
Green School Runs has SurA￿SfullY cx)nts'nued its actiwties to advance
tha Cause of educating on effects of air polluiion and promotsng th8
health beneffts of active sthool travel. We conts'nue to be one of the main
organisations in the local area is seen to actlvely promote the
health tenefrts of active travel arnl the reductKm of cars during the school
run. The chaiity 15 a key partner for k)cal sChc￿s. resident organisations,
the local council. and businesses promoting sustainable travel solutions,
