4. Election of nominees

There were single nominations for the Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary so these positions were voted in. There was two nominations for treasurer. Kerry Warda and Justyna Roberts. A vote was held to nominate the treasurer. 4 votes for Justyna Roberts and 12 for Kerry Warda. It was explained that you can take part in the PTA as a non named member as a volunteer.

5. AOB

Is there any specific fundraising at the moment?

No. This is something that changes regularly. The PTA are guided by what the school asks for. There was some suggestions for shading at KAB and an outdoor changing room at KAO. These are large expenses. The school will make requests as things pop up. Parents are able to make requests. The secondary library is in need of books as well.

Why have teachers not been along before?

One staff member answered that they felt that there is a lack of support from the staff and they wanted to be there to support the fundraising for the students.

Encouraging staff and parents to help was a big topic of discussion as the same parents/teachers are always helping and creating a more cohesive Oakwood and Binfield community feel would be beneficial.

Who approves events?

Everything is going to go through Miss Palmer and to Mrs Tate.

A calendar of events for the whole year decided could be helpful. A larger committee will help that.

Some PTAs are asked to help with policy and with internal dialogues as a representation from parents. Is that in the constitution? Would Mrs Tate be interested in that?

It is not in the constitution. Being part of an academy there is a large trust behind lots of decisions.

Could we have a “meet the governors” event? Who are they and what can they do? Can there be PTA representatives going forwards to go to the school?

Can the money benefit all the children as it feels? It is very much focusing on primary at the moment.

Any spending needs to follow the constitution of benefiting the school. Having one PTA was a school decision.

Can we have a “what have we raised update?”

Up until now the team has been too small to manage communications. Going forwards this would be something that would be great to have and send out to parents and carers.

Notice boards are now up and can be used for communication. Class reps could be an option.

Going forwards communications between the PTA members will be via email and Whats App.

Kerry Warda added that the books for this year will be slightly out. When the previous secretary stepped down, she was the only person with access to the bank account. Deposits have been made late and in the incorrect year.

One mum has volunteered to take over the uniform sales.

Fundraising Income:

Overall fundraising events by the PTA between November 2022 and October 2023 generated a profit of £9384. Including the bank balance carried over from the last financial year, the PTA ended the year with a healthy bank balance of £13130.17

The total income generated from fundraising activities was £16679 with expenditure of £6778. The figures below show a breakdown of these figures by events:
