**Objects:** THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS:TO ADVANCE IN LIFE AND HELP CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE FROM MARGINALISED COMMUNITIES WHO HAVE BEEN DISPLACED DURING AND AFTER CIVIL WAR, IN PARTICULAR IN THE WAR AFFECTED NORTHERN AND EASTERN PROVINCES OF SRI LANKA, THROUGH:(A) THE PROVISION OF RECREATIONAL AND LEISURE TIME ACTIVITIES PROVIDED IN THE INTEREST OF SOCIAL WELFARE, DESIGNED TO IMPROVE THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE;(B) PROVIDING SUPPORT AND ACTIVITIES WHICH DEVELOP THEIR SKILLS, CAPACITIES AND CAPABILITIES TO ENABLE THEM TO PARTICIPATE IN SOCIETY AS MATURE AND RESPONSIBLE INDIVIDUALS.

**Activities:** Nalam Vaala provides a much-needed intervention to help young people and adults gain motivation, self-confidence and key academic and employability skills. Our focus was families who were displaced during the final phase of the brutal civil war in Sri Lanka and our work so far helped young people who are not motivated in learning skills because of their experiences during the civil war.
