SECTION 1 Objectives and Activities
Aims and Objectives
Action For Sport has three key aims and objectives:
-
To promote sport
-
To remove barriers to sport
-
To protect the environment
These can be further explained through our work towards the achievement of the following outcomes:
-
To advance amateur sport for the public benefit, in particular but not exclusively by providing sports kit and equipment to young people and adults living in poverty in the UK, enabling participation in healthy recreational activities.
-
To prevent or relieve the poverty or financial hardship of young people and adults for the public benefit, in particular but not exclusively by providing sports kit and equipment to young people and adults living in poverty in the UK. Enabling them to participate in healthy recreational activities that they could not otherwise afford.
-
To provide sporting opportunities for the public benefit to young people and adults to promote positive and healthy lifestyles, for the benefit of both the individual and the wider community.
-
To provide mentoring support and guidance for the public benefit to young people and adults regarding the promotion and impact of sports on a positive and healthy lifestyle, for the benefit of both the individual and the wider community.
-
To promote and support other organisations to implement the charity’s projects with a framework and support to enable communities throughout the UK to benefit from the impact of our objectives.
-
For the public benefit, the protection and preservation of the environment, in particular but not exclusively, by the promotion of recycling and provision of recycled sports kit and equipment.
Evaluation of Aims and Objectives
Action For Sport regularly reviews our aims and objectives as part of our yearly review and reports back on the outcomes of our work. The review considers the impact of our work on our key target cohorts and considers the developments and improvements to keep the charity focussed whilst allowing for the required evolution. The key aims of the charity are cross referenced across all our projects, to ensure we continue to fulfil these objectives and our registration with the Charity Commission.
Key Projects
The charity currently runs six key projects to help us deliver our intended outcomes. All of our projects are developed to achieve the charities aims and objectives. These projects are:
2 | P a g e
-
1) 'Bring Your Boots' - Collecting Sporting Footwear and Sporting Kit Many children and young people are prevented from playing sport because their families cannot afford to buy sporting footwear and kit. Action For Sport collects new and used sporting footwear to distribute to children and young people experiencing financial hardship in the UK.
-
2) 'Future Stars' - Distributing Sporting Footwear and Sporting Kit Action For Sport works with schools, sports clubs and other organisations to identify children who are experiencing financial hardship. Action For Sport then works with the organisations, or directly with these children and young people's families, to ensure that they have the correct sporting footwear and kit to enable them to enjoy and participate in sport.
3) 'Support Through Sport' Working with Targeted Individuals to Focus on Positive Choices
This programme looks to offer targeted support to individuals in need of a positive focus. The programme not only provides sporting footwear and kit, but also provides bespoke mentoring and guidance to promote positive health, lifestyles and choices.
- 4) 'Hope, Help and Heroes' - Educating the Future Generations Our education programme works with schools, colleges and other organisations to deliver the essential message around helping others. We work to educate children and young people about the effects of poverty, the benefits of sport and about their physical and mental health.
5) 'Action For Sport Junior Committee' – Bringing Action For Sport to the Next Generation
This programme is delivered in individual schools and led by key students and supporting staff within these schools. They run their own programmes based around the core values of Action for Sport and work to promote and support the wider charity by their actions.
- 6) 'Taking Part' - Sporting Events with Support and Education Action For Sport provide opportunity for individuals to participate in sport and fitness where we can promote the importance of sport in people’s lives. We offer support to those who need it and encourage others to give back. These opportunities focus on unlocking a love for sport and a healthy life.
Public Benefit
Action For Sport continues to operate in accordance with the Charity Commission guidance on public benefit. The charity continues to support the public by providing sporting footwear and kit to families living in poverty in the UK. We continue to help educate the future generations about the importance of sport and the environment. Action For Sport also work to give the public opportunities to participate in sport and fitness which otherwise they would not have. The organisation also uses sport to help young people to engage in positive lives and choices, focusing them on good choices and the right path.

SECTION 2 Achievements and Performance
Action For Sport continue to build on our now multiyear success. At the time of this report, as of October 2025, the charity has supported over 15,200 families, giving them a staggering £482,208 of sporting footwear and kit to enable them to play sport. As a result of the collection of outgrown or unwanted sporting footwear and kit, the charity has saved a massive 7.44 tonnes of material from going to landfill.
The funding that Action For Sport has received has been used to cover the general running costs of the organisation, to cover distribution, education, events and essential staffing. The charity has also received specific financial donations to enable the organisation to purchase certain items of sporting kit and equipment to then be distributed to people experiencing financial hardship in the UK.
The work that Action For Sport has undertaken has directly impacted on over 15,000 individuals. The impact of this is immeasurable. This will have enabled these people to play sport, to be more socially active, and to develop new friendship groups. This will have had an impact on physical health, mental health, education and crime reduction. The impact is not only there for the individual but also there for the wider society. The work will have had an impact on societies health, community cohesion, education and crime.
Action For Sport continues to increase the charities reach. The main drive forward now lies in the development of the Action For Sport Junior Committees. This will see schools and other organisations take on the charities key objectives, core messages and key projects. This is supported by the central charity project group with the additional support of a web based platform to enable us to reach people throughout the whole of the country. This will give the whole of the United Kingdom access to our support with the help of these partner schools and other organisations, and therefore give everyone the ability to participate in sport by removing financial hardship as a barrier.
Action For Sport have a clear goal to build on our past success. The charity will utilise the current position to continue to grow and develop the organisation, resulting in the ability to provide more support and impact for both the individuals we support and the wider society as a whole.
