SECTION 1 Objectives and Activities

Aims and Objectives

Action For Sport has three key aims and objectives:

  1. To promote sport

  2. To remove barriers to sport

  3. To protect the environment

These can be further explained through our work towards the achievement of the following outcomes:

Evaluation of Aims and Objectives

Action For Sport regularly reviews our aims and objectives as part of our yearly review and reports back on the outcomes of our work. The review considers the impact of our work on our key target cohorts and considers the developments and improvements to keep the charity focussed whilst allowing for the required evolution. The key aims of the charity are cross referenced across all out projects, to ensure we continue to fulfil these objectives and our registration with the Charity Commission.

Key Projects

The charity currently runs six key projects to help us deliver our intended outcomes. All of our projects are developed to achieve the charities aims and objectives. These projects are:

3) 'Support Through Sport' Working with Targeted Individuals to Focus on Positive Choices

This programme looks to offer targeted support to individuals in need of a positive focus. The programme not only provides sporting footwear and kit, but also provides bespoke mentoring and guidance to promote positive health, lifestyles and choices.

5) 'Action For Sport Junior Committee' – Bringing Action For Sport to the Next Generation

Public Benefit

Action For Sport continues to operate in accordance with the Charities Commission guidance on public benefit. The charity continues to support the public by providing sporting footwear and kit to families living in poverty in the UK. We continue to help educate the future generations about the importance of sport and the environment. Action For Sport also work to give the public opportunities to participate in sport which otherwise they would not have. The organisation also uses sport to help young people to engage in positive lives and choices, focusing them on good choices and the right path.

3 | P a g e

SECTION 2 Achievements and Performance

Action For Sport continue to build on our now multiyear success. At the time of this report, as of September 2024, the charity has supported 10,700 families, giving them a staggering £291,428 of sporting footwear and kit to enable them to play sport. As a result of the collection of outgrown or unwanted sporting footwear and kit, the charity has saved a massive 5.56 tonnes of material from going to landfill. The organisation has also worked hard to educate young people about our key objectives and have worked directly with 1424 young people between the ages of 4 and 18 years old. Action For Sport’s specialist mentoring and positive guidance programme has actively engaged and supported 220 young people between the ages of 11 and 18.

The funding that Action For Sport has received has been used to cover the general running costs of the organisation, to cover distribution, education, events and essential staff.

The work that Action For Sport has undertaken has directly impacted on 12,344 individuals. The impact of this is immeasurable. This will have enabled these people to play sport, to be more socially active, and to develop new friendship groups. This will have had an impact on physical health, mental health, education and crime reduction. The impact is not only there for the individual but also there for the wider society. The work will have had an impact on societies health, community cohesion, education and crime.

Action For sport continues to increase the charities reach. We have partnered with organisations across the United Kingdom, so that they can implement some of our projects across multiple regions of the country. This partnership allows us to drive this wider and greater success that the collaboration brings. We would like to further develop our reach with other such partners in the future.

The organisation has taken the bold step to become a truly national organisation by developing a web based platform of support to enable us to reach people throughout the whole of the country. This will give the whole of the United Kingdom access to our support, with the help of our commercial partners, and therefore give everyone the ability to participate in sport by removing poverty as a barrier.

Action For Sport have a clear goal to build on our past success. The charity will utilise the current position to continue to grow and develop the organisation, resulting in the ability to provide more support and impact for both the individuals we support and the wider society as a whole.
