the physical and natural environment by taking
action to mitigate climate change and its effects
and by promoting bio108ical diversity. To
advance the education of the publlc In the

to promote research for the public benefit in all
aspects of that subjert and to publlsh the usefLtI

AAFAF'S subgroups have continued to work on
tree planting and maintenance- water testing
and liaison with stakeholders,. and helping
householders to Improve the energy efficlency
of their homes. We continue to have monthly
public meetings open to all and have produced
two newsletters with a wide dlstfibution. We
have worked wlth a wlde variety of groups,
or8anisation5 and authorities, and run events
enablin8 people to exchange plants and other
surplus Items. We have produced reports
detailing the tree work that we have done and
supported Lancaster University studer¢tS Wlth
projects around water harvestlng and food
growing in Amble5ide. We a￿ nearin8
completlon of the "Net Zero with Trees and
Bees" project (funded by the National Lottery)
that will make su88estions for future work.

We have continued to raise awareness in the
local area of climate and biodiversity issues.
We have continued with water testing In the
Rlvers Rothay and Brathay and have worked
wlth Lake5 Parish Council. Windemiere Town
Council. the Enwronment Agency and local
campal8ns around Issues of water quality. We
feel that this has contributed to re￿nt actions
tsken by Unlted Utllltles wlth regard to
Improvlr8 the stste of local river5 and lakes.
We have planted trees in a number of 51tes and
worked with a variety of private landowners and
5takeholder5 suth as Woodland Trust and
National Trust. We have continued to work on
malntalnir8 tree planting done by ourselves and
other landowners in the area. We have
produced summary documents on the work we
have done so far. identifying a number of
leamir8 points.
We have met with and worked wlth local
authorities around parks and tree planting.
Prathcal work has continued with maintenance
of frult tree plantin85- a wildflower meadow and
helping estsblish garden areas in the
churchyard.
We have held monthly open meetin8s on
sublects such as water quality,. tran5port,' tree
planting and agriculture: the effects of tourism.
and a Q&A with the local MP.
We ran our annual PlantGiveaway. attended bv
around people, and also held a swap event.
Following a student project at Lancaster
University. we had a talk from land or8anised a
Visit tol a community garden in Lancaster. This
has led to a community garden prolect belng
re5tsrted. A second student project is looking at
rainwater harvesting.
Ourwarmer home5group has continued to
suNey homes and busines5e5 to advise on
energy efficiency.
We have continued to work with a wide variety
of bodies and organi5ations.

inducted in all areas of the charity's works and

AAFAF has seven formal members who are the
charity trustees las at 311121241, and a wider
membership of around 149 lat 271101241 who
form the volunteer groups. These volunteer
groups are organised around specific topics or
projects. each of which is led by a volunteer
coordinator who reports to the trustees.
