## **Chair's report**

This has been a very challenging and somewhat frustrating year for Cycling Without Age Prudhoe. The Covid pandemic has meant that we have been unable to operate for most of this period with many of our users being at high risk. However, our amazing board of trustees have been hard at work and there have been some means for celebration.

On the 2[nd] April we were officially one year old and the Hexham Courant kindly published an article to commemorate the event and this was used as an opportunity to recruit users and pilots (volunteer cyclists).

We were also fortunate enough to have been chosen as one of the Coop’s ‘Local Causes’ which raised over £5000 and we continue to receive support from both the Northumberland Lottery and Amazon Smile.

We supported ‘Prudhoe Goes Green’ events in May and November which were an excellent platform for promoting ourselves in the town whilst at the same time supporting a very worthwhile initiative. In December we were called upon once again to help Santa Claus spread festive cheer throughout Prudhoe as he sat in our trishaw to do his rounds and meet local children.

We are hopeful that we are now through the worst of the Covid pandemic and that this combined with the onset of warmer weather means we can move Cycling Without Age Prudhoe forward. Our main effort for this year is to recruit more Pilots and to ensure that the more vulnerable members of our community who have had to shelter can now venture out in our trishaw in our beautiful countryside once again.

Our special ‘Trishaws’ (three-wheel cycles with a passenger cab up front) enable passengers to experience our countryside and nature close-up and chat with passers-by. Cycle pilots and passengers enjoy the physical and mental wellbeing benefits. Rides are comfortable, fun, fully insured and free to passengers. Our ethos is to encourage wellbeing and community through slow cycling, chatting, and enabling passengers to feel the wind in their hair. Our cycle pilots and passengers alike enjoy the physical and emotional wellbeing benefits.
