Reporting period: 01/02/2024 - 31/01/2025
Introduction
The Silent Horn Foundation is a charity in its first few years of operation with only its trustees operating as volunteers in service to it's goals. In the reporting year, some exciting progress has been made regarding our impact in vulnerable areas as well as in establishing our structure and fund raising avenues.
Our aims
For this period, our aims have been to increase our donations and begin our journey in applying for larger grants to achieve our impact goals faster. We also intend to utilise the skill set of our team to publish and begin distributing the world's first reference work in Somali sign language. We have ambitions to achieve standardisation and recognition of an official Somali sign language by positioning ourselves as capable resource creators as well as creating public interest on the ground in Somalia and among the diaspora.
Activities
We have begun more significant fund raising from personal efforts such as a charity run. We have also attended a conference in Slovenia to raise awareness of the plight of Deaf Somalis among our European counterparts.
Finances
We have received donations of £4,373.25 via charitable activities, of which £2,376.63 was used on operating costs during this period.
