Trustee’s Report
The trustees present their report with the financial statement of the charity for the year ended 31 July 2021. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019),
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
The objects of the CIO which are for the public benefit, are specifically restricted to the following :
a) to advance the education of the public in
(i)the benefits of human organ donation ("organ donation") and to mobilise, encourage, foster and maintain the interest and support of the public in organ donation
(ii) issues of road safety with the object of reducing personal injury and death amongst road users in particular, but not exclusively, by promoting safe practices in relation to public road use.
b) the relief of sickness and the preservation and protection of good health by
(i)the promotion of organ and tissue donation and by such other means as the trustees may determine
(ii) through the provision of community safety equipment such as defibrillators and by such other means as the trustees deem fit.
c) to promote and protect the emotional, psychological and physical health of parents, and their families, who have suffered the loss of a child, by signposting to relevant services and support groups and providing information, contributing to the funeral costs, paying for flowers and a donation towards headstone cost, providing a handcast of the child or fingerprint jewellery all aimed at supporting those who are bereaved.
(d) to relieve the sickness and suffering of children with cancer and other serious illnesses being cared for in hospitals local to St Helens and Merseyside, in particular but not exclusively by:
providing items and services to such children and their families/carers designed to enhance their physical, emotional and psychological health, ease their suffering and/or provide comfort and emotional support.
(e) to promote any charitable purpose for the benefit of the community as the trustees see fit in particular but not exclusively by the following means:
to promote the efficiency and effectiveness of charities and the effective application and use of resources by non-charitable bodies for the public benefit in particular but not exclusively by providing or assisting in the set-up of community projects, supporting their administration and providing support services to them; and by facilitating partnership and co-operation in the voluntary sector.
In planning our activities for the year we kept in mind the Charity Commission guidance on public benefit and the Trustees consider
that this is met, given the main purposes of the charity as set out above.
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
The Trustees are pleased to report a successful year with positive feedback from the ongoing fundraising events held.
Increased Awareness of Organ Donation registration and education.
3 Head Stone memorial donations to 3 separate bereaved families including 1 Head Stones memorial paid in full for to help a bereaved family
Community projects – funded martials for 3D printing of much needed PPE in Local NHS Hospitals
Trustee’s adapted well under Covid conditions to help local hospitals and community Nurses, to help fund much needed PPE.
Donations to the local foodbanks throughout the pandemic to provide for families.
Working with a local Hospital to create ‘Violet Grace’s Space’ – A respite room for Hospital staff who have been working in very stressful environments and to allow them a space to go and take some time, to process and deal with their very difficult jobs.
Violets Grace’s Law – Road safety education, petitioned the government to make changes the ‘Death by Dangerous Driving’
FINANCIAL REVIEW
From a financial point of view, the results for the year show a surplus off £6298.08
-Donations from fundraising events organised outside the fund have increased and we are very thankful for the continued support.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing document
The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust and constitutes an unincorporated charity.
Organisational structure
The board of trustees administers the charity. A Chairman is appointed by the trustees to manage the day to day operations of the
charity. To facilitate effective operations, the Chairman has delegated authority, within terms of delegation approved by the trustees,
for operational matters including finance, employment and training related activity.
Risk management
The trustees have a duty to identify and review the risks to which the charity is exposed and to ensure appropriate controls are in
place to provide reasonable assurance against fraud and error.
The trustees consider the major strategic, business and operational risks that the charity faces each year when considering budgets and
business plans. Systems have been developed to monitor and control these risks to mitigate any impact that they may have in the future.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
METHOD, APPOINTMENT, INDUCTION AND TRAINING OF TRUSTEES
All of the trustees are respected members of the local community and understand the ethos of our charity.
New trustees must be nominated by an existing member of the Board.
Potential new trustees will be invited for an informal visit to the Foundation and to meet the Board. If the Board deem the candidate suitable, the next stage in the procedure would be for them to be invited for an interview with the Board. Following the interview a
vote will be held and if agreed by a majority of the Board the candidate will be invited to join the Board as a Trustee.
Training of the Trustees is an ongoing process governed by the needs of the Foundation.
