We have done a lot of scything throughout the year and taken action to promote the growth
of wildflowers where possible.
In December we produced our annual calendar filled with orchard photos.
4.2 How the Public have benefitted
The orchard provided a peaceful breathing space for leisure time which has been a well-used and
much appreciated by the entire community.
The majority of the apple tree5 are heritage varieties and on the whole are Devon and Cornwall
varieties.
The provision of community events and volunteering opportunities
The provision of opportunities for working and learning new skills to maintain and enhance the
natural environment and protect wildlife.
We have given willow to the local school to use in their forest school sessions.
4.3 Volunteers
The Trustees wish to thank all those volunteers who have continued to look after the trees and the
land with such care and thought for one another. Volunteers a￿ vital to the existence and
functioning of the orchard and gNe a lot of time and energy to managing all aspects of the Charity.
Trustees and other volunteers have contributed significantly to the maintenance of the orchard in
many ways, including:
Scythin& raking and composting hay from the meadow.
Pruning the fruit tree5.
Mowing the grass path5.
