2.3 Trustee Selection Methods

There must be at least three charity trustees. The maximum number of trustees is 12.

In accordance with the Constitution, Trustees are appointed or re-appointed for a term of three years by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees.

In appointing Trustees due consideration is given to ensuring that the Trustees have, between them, the skills and experience necessary to manage the charity effectively and in accordance with charity law.

3 Activities

3.1 Statutory Declaration

The Trustees of the Technology, Pedagogy and Education Association confirm that they have paid due regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit in deciding what activities the charity should undertake.

3.2 Summary of Main Activities

In 2023-24, TPEA continued to promote research and effective practice in the use of digital technology and to support effective teacher professional development through publications and events.

We returned to our own face-to-face events through our 35[th] Annual Conference held in Bedford in July 2023 which brought together researchers and practitioners from across the UK. We also ran a series of webinars on topics relevant to our charitable aims.

TPEA continued to publish our successful, international journal and to support research and effective practice in technology education.

4 Achievements & Performance

4.1 Outputs and Outcomes for the Charity’s Beneficiaries

Over this period, the charity has produced a number of outputs. These include:

The journal achieved a 2023 Impact Factor of 3.4 which makes TPE 60[th] out of 756 international Education and Educational Research journals. It has a national and international audience with over 188,000 downloads, 70% of which are from countries outside Europe. This is due to the very high standard of articles published - our acceptance rate for articles is just 12%.

4.2 How the Public Have Benefitted.

Teachers and educators have benefitted from our work by learning about best practice in educational technology. In turn, this has benefitted the public through improved educational practices. We remain concerned about the low levels of participation in Computing and Technology and seek to promote ways to address this.

4.3 Contributing to Activities Run by Other Organisations

We have contributed to the work of the CfSA, MESH, MirandaNet, and NAACE

4.4 Trustee Development

Trustees are encouraged to participate in development opportunities as and when appropriate.
