## Section D Achievements and performance

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**

Annual programme of lectures and an Annual Lecture by a well-known speaker, this year Nigel Phillips. Nigel is associated with Somerset's landscape through his work as a marine and coastal ecologist and author of books like Somerset's Coast – A Living Landscape and The Nature of the Quantocks. He was also the Coastal Ambassador for the Somerset Wildlife Trust, which involved leading coastal walks and marine awareness campaigns. These lectures encourage a wider audience than just members of FOTMOS and hopefully lead to the recruitment of new members.

Only a small donation was made to The Museum of Somerest in this year, towards the purchase of a lectern. However, £1000 has been promised towards the purchase of a locally discovered Roman ring, £5000 has been promised towards the displaying of the Chew Valley Hoard, and a further £2500 has been promised towards various smaller purposes.
