The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) foundation formed on 19 March 2020 and is governed by a constitution.

The trustees of the charity are appointed by the members at the AGM.

## **Objectives and activities**
## **The charity's objects**
To promote community participation in healthy recreation for the benefit of the inhabitants of Shelf and the surrounding area by the provision of facilities to play football. (For the purposes of this clause "facilities" means land, buildings, equipment, access to coaching and organising sporting activities).
## **Mission**
Provide an environment for all our young players regardless of gender, ethnicity or ability to achieve their potential in football and life.
## **The charity's main activities**
Shelf Juniors Football Club was established in 1988 to provide a home for local children to be involved in organised Junior Football. Since this start date the club has established itself within the local community with over 200 children (ranging from 4 year olds through to 18 year olds). To further compliment this from 2016, the club started to operate teams for Under 21s and ‘Open Age’ with the primary objective to retain our developed players in the game of football.
## **Public benefit statement**
In setting our objectives and planning our activities our trustees have given serious consideration to the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit, in particular the provision of facilities for the coaching, learning and playing of football for the benefit of the Shelf community and the surrounding area with the objective of improving the physical and social well-being of all its members.
## **Achievements and performance**
This has been one of the Club’s most successful seasons - not necessarily in terms of silverware, but through significant growth in participation, teams and community engagement.
The Club continues to prioritise providing appropriate kits, training, and matchday facilities, while expanding opportunities for both children and adults to participate.
A major area of growth has been in girls’ football. A new girls’ team has been established, bringing the total to over 30 registered female players for the 2025/2026 season. The Club has always encouraged girls to join existing teams and is now planning further investment to expand dedicated girls’ teams.
The Club also hosted a large community tournament on the weekend of 28–29 June 2025, involving 114 teams and over 800 short matches. The event was a significant success, thanks largely to the efforts of volunteers who supported logistics, parking, catering, refereeing, team coordination and presentations. Special thanks go to Dariusz Kujaczynski for his leadership in organising the event. Plans are already underway to deliver a similar tournament next season.
Congratulations are extended to Shelf U9 Yellows and U11 Allstars, along with their coaches Dariusz Kujaczynski and Scot Ogden, for winning their respective age groups at the tournament.
The Club also recognises the contribution of Nicola Kelly, who has led the Soccer Tots (Mini Kickers) sessions and will oversee the new Under-7 teams in a 3v3 format next season.
The success of the tournament was also made possible by the support of sponsors, including:
J&S Roofing, TMG Auto Repairs, Red Group Scaffolding Ltd, Holts Car & Van Diagnostics and Repair, The Pride Gym, Right Green, Unique Finesse, Fourth Quarter Fitness, DWES, The Grapevine Magazines, Firesec, and Pendle (for providing footballs).

## **Financial review**
The net payments for the year were £1,375, all of which were unrestricted in nature.
## **Reserves policy**
The charity's free reserves, at the year end were £20,546.
The trustees do not have a reserves policy, but it is under consideration for the coming financial year.

## Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Shelf FC
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the CIO for the year ended 30 June 2025, which are set out on pages 6 to .
## **Responsibilities and basis of report**
As the charity trustees of the CIO you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').
I report in respect of my examination of the CIO's accounts as carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act. In carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
## **Independent examiner's statement**
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
1 accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Charities Act; 2 the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## 1 **Accounting policies**
## **Basis of accounting**
The trustees have taken advantage of section 133 of the Charities Act 2011 and have prepared the accounts on a receipts and payments basis.
There has been no change to the accounting policies since last year.
No changes have been made to the accounts for previous years.
## **Taxation**
As a charity the organisation benefits from rates relief and is generally exempt from income tax and capital gains tax but not from VAT. Irrecoverable VAT is included in the cost of those items to which it relates.
## **Fund accounting**
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the charity.
Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the accounts.
