## **TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE PERIOD ENDED 31 MARCH 2024** 

The Trustees present their report and financial statements for the period ended 31 March 2024. 

The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in SEN Parenting's constitution, the Charities Act 2011 and “Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)” (as amended for accounting periods commencing from 1 January 2016) 

## **Objectives and activities** 

The object of the CIO is: 

For the public benefit to relieve the needs of and support parents and carers of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), in particular by: 

- providing training for parents and carers of children with special educational needs (SEN) to enable them to understand their children’s disabilities and learn skills to support their development from early years to adult life; 

- supporting parents and carers in setting up special needs systems within their home environment to bridge the gap between schools, professionals and home; 

- creating awareness of SEN among the general public with aim of enabling better understanding of families with SEN children and how they may be supported. building community relationships among various ethnic backgrounds to support families with SEN children and individuals. 

- working with schools, educational professionals and other organisations to provide outreach support for families of children and individuals with SEN. 

## **Achievements and performance** 

Parent trainings and workshops included sessions where families prepared resources for use at home and were trained on how to use these resources to achieve best outcomes within the home environment. Informal parent telephone support services were created to support those in crisis and immediate need. Our one-to-one support service were expanded to support more families. More awareness of special educational needs among various ethnic backgrounds were organised with other voluntary organisations. Parent wellbeing sessions were organised and received excellent feedback. More sessions will be organised in the next financial year.

## **FUNDERS** 

During the period, the main sources of funding was from UK limited companies who funded the costs of Professionals for workshops and overhead costs for the year. 

## **EXPENDITURE** 

All expenditure were incurred for charity’s activities and governance costs in accordance with the charity’s objectives. 

## **ACTIVITIES** 

Online and face to face coffee mornings, talks from professionals and wellbeing sessions were held to support carer/families of children and young people with autism and other special needs to cope during the cost-of-living crisis. Resources were made during sessions for parents to use at home. 



## **STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT** 

SEN Parenting is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) and was registered on the 18[th] of March 2020. 

The Trustees who served during the period to 31 March 2023 were:

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINERS REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF SEN PARENTING** 

I report to the Trustees on my examination of the financial statements of SEN Parenting for the period ended 31 March 2024. 

## **Responsibilities and basis of report** 

As the Trustees of SEN Parenting, you are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act). 

I report in respect of my examination of SEN Parenting’s financial statements carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act. In carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act. 

## **Independent examiner's statement** 

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 

- 1 accounting records were not kept in respect of SEN Parenting as required by section 130 of the 2011 Act; or 

- 2 the financial statements do not accord with those records; or 

- 3 the financial statements do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the financial statements to be reached.
