|---|---|---|
| Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document |
Para 1.17 | The purpose of Redeemer Grimsby is to exalt the name of Jesus Christ through gospel-centred teaching, discipleship, community & mission. We are an elder- led church seeking to advance the Christian faith through regular times of public worship, prayer & Bible study. We have a service at 11.30 every Sunday morning held in the YMCA building at 21 Freeman Street, Grimsby. We have sought to give & encourage pastoral care & have constantly reviewed our programme as our duty to ‘love one another’. We have supported charitable social action in the local community as several of our members continue to work in the food kitchen. We give monthly donations to 6 charities:- The Bible Society, Compassion (supporting a 7 year old boy in Ghana), Open Door ( supporting the persecuted Church ), Hope for Justice ( anti-slavery & human trafficking ), Christians in Ukraine and, beginning in March 23, to the Fellowship of Messianic Jews in Israel. We also support 2 missionaries – Steve & Mollie Brown in Cambodia & Steve Dulieu in Uganda. |
| Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts. |
Para 1.17 and 1.19 |
We have continued to meet in the YMCA cafe every Sunday morning for a church service. On the last Sunday of the month we have a bring & share meal together. We also meet there every Thursday evening for prayer & bible study. In December we donated a tin of sweets, a hand made Christmas card and a Christian booklet to all 74 residents of the hostel as well as several staff members. We also gave Christmas donations to F.I.R.M. ( The Fellowship of Israel-Related Ministries ), the local |
| foodbank, Harbour Place (for the homeless ), St Mark’s Church ( for their outreach ). We held a Christmas service in the local Freeman St. Market which was well attended. We were joined by members of the Congregation of Celebration Church & subsequently we share prayer meetings every 2nd& 4th Thursday evenings with them. We held a service on Good Friday in April 2023 which resulted 2 people joining the church & becoming members. In August our Deacon, Steve Dulieu left us to go to evangelise in Uganda for at least one year. In the time covered by this report we have held 4 Elder/Trustee meetings & 3 Members Meetings. |
