## **Tudor Community Sports Trust: Tudor Community Sports Ground, Tudor Road, Sutton Coldfield**

## **Annual Report 1 December 2023 to 30 November 2024**

## **1.0 Context**

1.1 During this financial year, the Trust focused on improving the facilities for crown green bowls (league and social play) and continued with the green restoration treatments and conducting various repairs and maintenance improvements to the pavilion and around the site in general.

1.2 The bowls facility is open and accessible for pay-as-you-go play through either the Royal British Legion League games or the Social Bowlers group. Enjoying a full season from March to October (rain and floods permitting) meant opportunities to promote bowls play to new people through our annual Open Day and other events. The bowls cohort of players has increased in response to 55 social bowlers across all adult ages and abilities.

1.3 More people are engaging with the Trust and the wider community and enjoying the opportunities to improve individual healthy lifestyles, better mental and physical well-being and overcome social isolation. It remains challenging to attract young people into bowls play and the Trust is considering initiatives to invite local schools and youth groups to have a go and introduce the game in this informal way.

1.4 The Trust is keen to set up various fundraising activities and get major contributions through donations and grants which can match future grant applications for a new modern pavilion; improved site access and parking improvements; and three new all-weather tennis courts with perimeter fencing and floodlights as set out in its planning permission. The Trust was successful in generating additional income through a Quiz Night, Wine Tasting Evening and Open Day donations.

1.5 During this financial year the Trust began development work ready to gain more traction during 2025 as follows:

- updated its Business Plan 2024-2028

- created a new Fundraising Plan 2024-28

- refreshed Crown Green Bowls and Tennis Sports Development Plans

- increased community engagement and volunteer support

- raised the Trust’s profile and fundraising work

- commissioned a new website and improved the use of social media platforms

## **2.0 Summary**

2.1 The Trust is continuing to build on its existing cohort of willing volunteers, residents, local communities of interests and crown green and tennis players. By constantly broadening and deepening the engagement of local people, diverse communities and other stakeholders across North Birmingham, the Trust will be able to shape and develop the use of these community-based facilities more effectively.
