## **Brixworth Community Church Annual Report for the year ended 31[st] March 2021** **Brixworth Community Church** , c/o 18 Stonehill Way, NN6 9LW is registered with the Charity Commissioners (No 1188559). We are a CIO and constituted by Deed of Trust. Minister: Rev Andrew Lloyd-Williams Elder: Allan Pope Treasurer during the above period: Sue McAspern ## **General** From March 2020 the first month of national lockdown, the way we met as a Church changed considerably as we had turn to online services and activities. This meant us as a Church creating our own Youtube channel. This was to be the format for the whole of the period reported on. ## **Sundays** As we were unable to meet as normal, the Church services included songs, a prayer, message which was recoded beforehand and closing song. Over the course of the year, as we grew in our understanding of what was required to put better services together, our services grew and evolved and became more effective and as result more appreciated. The numbers of those attending online have been encouraging and this has made the good news of Jesus more widely available. ## **Zoom Tea and Coffee** To further connect folk to one another at a time where people could easily feel isolated, we also ran a Zoom event after the services. This is where people where encouraged to get a Tea and a Coffee and informally chat and share their lives. This also developed over time, as we further grew in our understanding of Zoom, as we did ‘brake out’ rooms making conversation easier. It was great to use the skills of young and old during these times. ## **Kids Church** This got better and evolved over time. It began with including children’s songs online and cartons sharing bible stories within the main service. However, soon different Church members really stepped up to provide further material for younger people on the same Youtube channel. This involved recording of messages, acting out stories, songs, games to do and crafts. ## **Midweek Messages** This involved the Pastor and a team of different people sharing a short thought in the middle of the week, again on our Church Youtube channel. Sometimes prayer and songs were added. ## **Prayer Meeting** The power of God received through prayer is the life and strength of the Church. Prayer enables the Church members to care for the community in God’s strength and it is the primary way an individual maintains their relationship with God. As such, prayer meetings on Mondays continue to be an important part of Church life. This continued on Zoom though out Lockdown. Again, online attendances have encouraging. ## **Home groups** We have 4 Home groups running at the moment. One meets on a Wednesday afternoon and the others meet on a Thursday evening to study the bible and encourage one-another. This have continued during lockdown over Zoom and has enabled Church Members to be further encouraged and spiritually built up as they look at the bible together, discuss it, prayer together and share fellowship with other. ## **Christmas** This year we could not run our annual Nativity outside the Community Centre, so we had to turn to our Youtube channel and run an online Nativity service. This was a great success with hundreds going on line to watch and be encouraged. We also made Christmas cakes for those within local residential homes, sent a Christmas card to every house in the village and many church members decorated their windows to create and be a part of a national window advent idea. This meant that children and families could walk around the village to see different windows bringing the truth of Christmas to life. ## **Easter** Over holy week we produced 7 online messages again bringing to life the truth of Jesus death and resurrection. This involved Church Members acting out different biblical characters, culminating in an Easter Sunday Service. ## **Special events** Other activities and special events that went on during the period reported on, included video assemblies and services for the local school, quiz’s for Church members and their friends, joint remembrance service and online harvest service. Of course there have been some people not able to do technology. For such folk we would regularly phone or knock on the door to chat in a socially distant way to encourage them and to make sure they had everything they needed. ## **Giving** We also continue to give financially to the work of the Messengers, Friendship International Students and Hosts (FISH), Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC), Sports Reach and the Manna House counselling in Northampton). ## **Olive Branch** During lock-down the majority of the time the Olive Branch Café was closed. However, we sometimes used to space to help with recordings and the Foodshare projects. ## **Vision** It is our vision and aim to provide spiritual support and care for the Church and the community. This can be achieved by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and teaching the bible and its truth’s. We seek to show God’s love in practical ways too. Also, it is to serve God by serving the community. To increase our knowledge and understanding of God and his plans for our lives as individuals and as a Church. To be able to welcome and relate our Christian faith better to young families venturing into Church. To put it in language previously used: “ _to so apply truth, love and direction of Jesus Christ that the church becomes a Spirit filled community within which the members grow in faith, hope and love in the likeness of Christ. Being prepared for everlasting glory and reaching out with the gospel locally, in the county and throughout the world. In all this the desire and determination of the Church will be for the glory of God_ .” ## **Finance** This finances continue to enable us to provide opportunities for the community and for the ministries described above. While services were ran online, Church Members continued to give whether through standing orders or other means. We have also invested in updating our technology. This report along with the financial accounts suitably reflect the financial activities of Brixworth Community Church for the accounting period and the Elders approval is acknowledged. **Rev.
