Objective : The aim of the Trust is to receive, maintain and apply the Trust Fund to be of benefit to the wider community within the village of Barton, Cambs.
Structure, Governance and Management.
All Trust work is performed by the Trustees in a voluntary capacity. There are no employees. The Chairman and Secretary, being resident in the village, bear primary responsibility. Minuted meetings are held twice per year, with additional contacts as required. Trustees are appointed in accordance with the Trust Deed, by the current Trustees, to maintain a minimum of three (and a maximum of nine), to provide expertise in a relevant area.
Annual Report
This first report to the Charities Commission for the Trust (established by Deed on 27 July 2018) covers the period from 12 March 2020 (date of achieving Charity status) to 31 December 2021. The first AGM was on 27[th] January 2021. During 2020 the Trust was becoming established and its services publicised via the Parish Magazine, which is distributed to all properties in Barton. During 2021, grants were made towards three projects within the village, all centred on the Recreation Ground – Bowls Club shed extension, a defibrillator beside the Sports Pavilion and, Children’s Playground roundabout. In addition, the purchase of a piece of garden land in the centre of the village has been under way, but is yet to be completed. This is to become an area of open access nature reserve adjoining the churchyard extension.
A Trust report was given at the Annual Parish Meeting in October (delayed by Covid). The Trust has good relations with the Parish Council.
Financial Report
Grants totalling £2,770 have been made for three projects, to which other groups also contributed. There was further expenditure of £2,352 towards land purchase costs and some administration, thus a total expenditure of £5,122. Income has totalled £37,520 from significant gifts of £30,020 and Gift Aid refund of £7,500.
The balance in the account at the end of the year was £42,818. Apart from funds in the single bank account, the Trust currently holds no other assets. The Trust has two standard forms – for Grant Applications and for Gift Donations.
