## **Trustees annual report**

## Introduction

As a chair of the trustee’s board members, I would like to first to thank the charity commission team for the work they have done through the year to support new organisation like us with the trustees training to come to understand how important our role as a trustee is. Big thanks to the big lottery for their financial support. Thanks to the council of Leicester city for their support to the football tournament event to help us to raise awareness on HIV and sexual health during the tournament . This kind of event help us to test more people at one place. The same time to promote a positive sexual health. We would not forget community foundation who work with us all the time. I like the network we have now in Leicester city. We all come together for the same cause. We partnership with TRADE sexual health organisation (LGBT organisation) and LSH (Leicestershire sexual health clinic) through the year. We did a testing week campaign together at Alino bar/restaurant and world AIDs Day together at Leicester Museum and art gallery. Where we took time for prayer with everyone holding a candle to remember those who passed away through HIV/Aids. The event was very colourful with many attendees. Thanks to other organisation like VALL Voluntary Action in Leicester, B-inspired organisation and Reaching people organisation for their support in getting fundings. We always going to stick together to raise awareness on HIV prevention and sexual health Together. This matter can knock the door anywhere in UK

We succeed to put a digital platform in place. We have our website done at adpleicestershireserives.co.uk. and our Facebook at Facebook/Adpafricandevelopmentproject.

I am also thankful for my other colleagues and partner community for their help to deliver the projects to reach a big African community in the most sexual Health need in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. ADP board has agreed and approved on the accounts 2021- 20222 during the trustees annual meeting.

Trustees NSHONBO MALENDE in charge of the finance gave an overview on the finance of the year and projection on the financial year 2022-2023. On the following you will get more details on expenses and incoming grants. We are driving in good direction and many hope to respond to the challenge of the Sexual Health.

Georges N’Kashama

Chairperson and Trustee

## **Trustee appointment**

Following our meeting, we needed one more trustee on the board. Mr Edward Tanganika was therefore duly appointed as a trustee. We made that adding into the charity commission register.

## Achievement and performance

This year our charity saw a lot of progression from activity we are doing in Leicester. Now we get more invitations to take part in events to raise awareness in HIV prevention and condom use demonstration for preventing any sexual transmitted infections like HIV, gonorreah and chlamydia. We attended more events this year than the year before 2020-2021.

We also got more audiences in our digital platform we put in place to get more people on C-CARD scheme and booking for test.

Our test ORAQuick test is a home HIV test manufactured by **ORASURE** Technology to make easy to people to test themselves without assistance. There is not blood involved, it is the first oral HIV test. This cut down on people queueing for appointment and no waiting. People will be able to perform an HIV test when and where they want. This will allow us to reach easily more undiagnosed people to know their status. With **ORAQuick** test, we are trying to build a capacity testing team in different communities in Leicester and Leicestershire to improve the outcomes. The funding has played big part for us to emerge from an immediate impact from covid- 19.

We have purchased HIV kits, jumpers, business cards, office equipment, office to rent, printing and stationery, domain etc.

John Nshombo Malende

ADP trustee and in charge of finance.

## **Approinted trustee.**

Through the collaboration of other sexual health organisation in Leicester and Leicestershire, we were very active in promoting HIV Prevention Awareness in the community as a solution for public health to reach the world health organisation 2030 target.

Big issue with the young African community in Leicester city facing an early pregnancy which sometimes lead them to leave school at early stage to look after kids. Loss time for them to gain skills. This will be our next topic, we will focus on.

With **ORAQuick** test, we are trying to build a capacity testing team in different communities in Leicester and Leicestershire to improve the outcomes.
