2. Structure, Governance and Management
Humanity For East Africa is governed by its trustees in accordance with its governing document. The trustees are responsible for setting the charity’s strategic direction, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and overseeing the effective use of resources in furtherance of the charity’s objectives.
The trustees meet as required to review progress, manage risk, and ensure that appropriate governance and operational frameworks are in place.
3. Objectives and Public Benefit
The charity’s objects are set out in its governing document and are intended to support charitable activities benefiting communities in East Africa.
In planning future activities, the trustees have had due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit and are satisfied that the charity’s purposes are, and will continue to be, carried out for the public benefit.
4. Activities and Achievements During the Reporting Period
During the reporting period, the charity remained in a pre-operational stage. No fundraising activities were undertaken, no bank account was operated, and the charity neither received nor expended any funds. As a result, there was no financial activity during the year.
The trustees focused on establishing a strong governance and compliance framework to support the charity’s future operations. This included developing internal policies, trustee oversight arrangements, and operational procedures to ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
The trustees consider this preparatory work essential to ensuring that the charity is wellgoverned, compliant, and sustainable prior to the commencement of charitable activities.
5. Plans for Future Periods
The trustees intend to commence charitable activities and fundraising in the next financial period, subject to the completion of these foundational arrangements. Planned initiatives include fundraising activities such as crowdfunding and the development of strategic partnerships to support the charity’s objectives.
6. Financial Review
The charity did not receive any income and did not incur any expenditure during the reporting period. No bank account was in operation, and the charity held no assets or liabilities at the period end.
The trustees are satisfied that appropriate financial controls will be established prior to the commencement of any financial activity.

The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Annual Report and accounts in accordance with applicable law and regulations.
