## **1.3. OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES**

Advancing the education of vulnerable children and young people and relieving poverty for the public benefit by sponsoring children to receive full-time education in rural areas in Africa. Relieving poverty in the UK and Wales by providing services that benefit the community and improve lives, such as Saturday clubs for music and arts and crafts for young people and children.

## **1.4. ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE**

## **Educational Support and Beneficiary Progress - Nigeria**

During the reporting year, the charity supported **six children in education** . All beneficiaries demonstrated progress in their academic journeys by advancing to the next class within their respective schools.

Of the six children:

- One child progressed into **Senior Secondary School** .

- One child is currently in the **final year of Junior Secondary School** .

- One child is in the **final year of Primary School** .

- One child advanced to **Nursery 2** .

- A new child has recently been adopted, and preparations are underway to enrol her in school.

Unfortunately, one girl discontinued her education during the year. This was due to her family relocating her from her village to another community where the charity does not currently have access or operational reach.

In addition, an older male beneficiary, who is now undertaking electrical apprenticeship training, continues to seek admission to university. The charity remains supportive of his aspirations and continues to monitor his progress.

## **Training, Safeguarding, and Capacity Building - Nigeria**

In line with the charity’s objectives to protect and empower children, significant efforts were made during the year to build capacity among educators and child-facing workers. The charity successfully trained fifty (50) schoolteachers and church children’s workers in child protection and safeguarding practices.

Furthermore, the charity delivered **sex education and personal care awareness training** to approximately three hundred ( **300)** children drawn from various primary and secondary schools, as well as teenage church groups. These sessions targeted children aged 6 to 18 years, equipping them with age-appropriate knowledge to promote personal safety, dignity, and well-being.

## **Activities to Prevent Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse**

The charity continues to work actively and tirelessly with both educators and children to **prevent child sexual exploitation and abuse** . A key strength of the charity’s approach is its direct community engagement model.

During the year, the Charity Director personally travelled from village to village to deliver training sessions, supported by trained support workers. This hands-on approach ensured that safeguarding messages reached vulnerable and hard-to-reach communities effectively.

## **Trustees’ Responsibilities**

The Charity Trustees shall manage the affairs of the Trust. They shall exercise their power and perform the functions in their capacity as trustees as conferred on them by the Deed.

They are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that always disclose the charity’s financial position with reasonable accuracy and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011.
