GROOMBRIDGE MEN’S SHED Charity no 1188369
The Committee has been working hard over the last 2 years, trying to get the project off the ground. We managed to get, in principle to link to the village hall for Services, and in Principle to build on the piece of land next to the car park from the Parish Council.
Zara Broomfield offered to design a shed that would look pleasing to the location free of charge, of which I think all who have seen all the pictures of the shed at several meetings and events are pleased with the look. No adverse comments so all good
We managed to get a permission from the Parish Council in the end, and then had to get planning permission from Wealden District Council, .then it had to go for permission from the Rosemary Newton Trust who are the owners of the site which is rented to the parish council. But at that time Covid was prevalent, which slowed things down , but permission was granted in the end.
Then of course, we had to get the Lease, not only from the Parish Council, but also the RNT, which took some time with all the legal side done. We then had to approach the Village Hall Committee to get proper permission to link into their services, which took a little time to sort out. If it had not been for Chris
Scrine working on the lease, and Richard Thirkell’s input, and work on the hall agreement, we would still be in trouble.
While this was going on, the fundraising continued at pace, we had a Pop-up Shop. Which raised £1250.00 selling items we had made or refurbished. Also we had Crowd Funding Page on our Website which raised £1800. Also Richard Hunt was doing his work, writing to all the charities he could find that might contribute to our cause.
So from nothing or just an idea we have gained a lot of support in the village. To which we posted notices around the village expressing our gratitude for the support and money given to us.
So this year we have started the build.
