## **OUR YEAR**

During this year Natashia Wenman stepped down from Oakley’s Gift, but she remains an avid supporter. We thank her kindly for the role she has played in the organisation. This has meant that we have a new trustee, Sarah Harrington. Sarah was first made aware of Oakley’s Gift when she unfortunately was in need of our support. Sarah has a background in midwifery and we believe her personal and professional experience will be a great asset to the Oakley’s Gift team! We have continued to be blown away by the support of local businesses and families.

## **CHAIRS WORDS**

Joanne Harris-Beck, Founder & Chair

This year we made the decision to focus less on donations to individuals and that we would prioritise liaising with hospitals to expand the impact we can make. It will be more impactful to support bereavement suites where several families will use the services as apposed to individuals. As time goes on we continue to think of new ways of supporting others and doing what we can to ensure it is sustainable.

## **OUR INSPIRATION**

Oakley’s Gift was originally founded in December 2018 after the founder’s son was born via emergency c-section. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the medical team he died of meconium aspiration syndrome. His parents did not want his little life to be forgotten and wanted to turn their grief into something positive. That is when Oakley’s Gift was created. The name was suggested by Natashia, our first treasuer That’s exactly what we wanted to do, gift. Our love for Oakley is the force that drives us in all we do.
