MOUNT BURES VILLAGE HALL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2022

The year has been dominated by the need to renew our lease with The Church, to re-establish community activities and to make a start on the refurbishment of the Hall.

The building is owned by The Diocese of Chelmsford and efforts to renew the lease started in 2019. COVID has interrupted these efforts, but the Committee continue to encourage the Church solicitors into action.

A further influence of COVID has been to change peoples routines and social habits. Breaking these isolationist tendencies has not been easy, but a number of activities will take place aimed at returning previously loyal participants to the fold, and reopening that vital social contact.

A survey of the building has been undertaken to help the Committee to assess what needs to be done by way of refurbishment to the structure and facilities. This survey will provide the professional expertise to allow a priority list of jobs to be made, and thereafter the seeking of grants to fund these repairs.

Although there has been an operating loss of the Village Hall over the past two years, measures are in place to restore the Hall to profit and continue its important outreach into the community. The Committee are optimistic about the future.
