●Project at Bandari School, Tanzania started mid December 2021 until
February 28th 2022, however the month of January was spent in
Zambia.
Teacher training days - Tanzania
1 day on collaboration, working as part of a team by investing values
and coming up with staf agreements. Also focused on the importance
of language while teaching mathematics.
2nd day - split group into 2 - one group of new teachers and one of
existing teachers. Both GOTM overseas teacher and local teacher ran
these staf insets focusing on diferent areas of mathematics according
to experience and need.
Continued to employ a local Teacher in Mto Wa Mbu who supported
the Bandari Project School in addition to continuing an outreach
program in other local schools by training teachers and modelling
lessons using the 100 and 120 pocket chart. This continued for the
whole year. Fortnightly training in Mathematics across all primary
years classes (observation and participation) for the GOTM locally
employed teacher at St Constantine's International school in Arusha
Commenced partnership with ‘Twende Education for All’ in Zambia.
The month of January was spent in Zambia. For 2 weeks, our local
teacher from Tanzania joined GOTM in Zambia to partake in the
teacher training program.
●Teacher Training Programs in Zambia
2 days of inset training at UTH Hospital - 3 teachers who work in the
two children’s cancer and sick cell learning centres. Hands on
workshops focusing on how children learn maths and the benefts of
using manipulatives. Modelled lessons over a few weeks to children in
the cancer centre.
2 days teacher training at Mwtaeshi Primary in northern Zambia, Mpkia
region.
Training of all primary staf at Mwateshi school. Introducing

Para 1.38 Contribution made by volunteers:
Celi Harper volunteered at the Bandari Project for six weeks. During
that time she held teacher inset days on Mathematics, language and
collaboration with Zawadi Lukamay the locally employed teacher.
Together they connected with another local school to support
throughout 2022, on a weekly basis. Celi and Zawadi devised staf
inset programs for both Tanzania and Zambian projects.
Celi and Zawadi taught at UTH Hospital and at Mwateshi School in
Mpkia, Zambia.
Two non teaching volunteers joined the project for 10 days in February
2022 bringing out supplies and helping out in general at Bandari and in
classrooms.

Achievements and Performance
Having a locally employed teacher has continued to be a great
asset to GOTM and the Bandari Project. Taking Zawadi to
Zambia gave her greater responsibility in the organisation and
empowered her to make a diference in African schools and
communities. Zawadi’s confdence over the year has increased
greatly.
With Zawadi’s continued support in the classrooms at Bandari
and her teacher training at international schools, the teacher
and students have benefted from her expertise. Daily she
supports in classes teaching mathematics using manipulatives.
The students confdently use materials to explore new concepts
and ideas in mathematics. With the staf inset at the start of the
year on collaboration, the teachers are more willing to work
together towards a common goal and to diferentiate according
to the needs of the child.
We seconded Zawadi from the Bandari Project for the year of
2022 and they have agreed to another year in 2023. Zawadi
continues to represent the charity well on the ground in
Tanzania.
The children at the local schools continue to look forward to
Zawadi’s visits and her teaching of maths in their very small
classrooms. GOTM observed Zawadi teaching in the local
school and were impressed with her confdence and the way she
used the 100 chart in a variety of ways. Edx Education continues
to donate 100 and 120 pocket charts for use at the local schools.
Grade 4 results through government testing showed Bandari
move from 83 out of 85 in the region in 2021, to 15 out of 85 in
2022. The low results from the year before made us realise that
we needed to teach more written word problem skills.
GOTM continues to receive support from both international
schools in Arusha -- United World College and St Constantine's
school. Both schools fully support having Zawadi attend classes
to observe and partake in mathematics lessons in an
international primary setting.
GOTM was warmly welcomed in Zambia in January 2022 and we
partnered with Twende Education For all. The UTH children’s
cancer wards and sickle cell learning centres had no
mathematical resources. The teacher’s level of English was very
good so it made it easier to explain concepts and ideas. After a

child died in isolation, GOTM decided to launch the idea of Isolation Kits - a maths kit kept in a plastic box that could be used in the isolation ward or in the beds with patients who were bed bound. For the children at these hospitals, the learning centre is the only reprieve they get from their daily lives which are void of any stimulation. Some children are in the hospital for months on end, and even a year. These will be launched in January 2023 GOTM carried out a 2 day teacher maths training at Mwateshi Primary School in Mpika in Northern zambia. The government postponed the opening of the school due to covid so for the remainder of the week we held drop in sessions for any students who would like to come and learn maths. We had many children turn up of all different ages and abilities. In December 2022 GOTM returned to UTH hospital for a month to continue the training and teaching of mathematics in the cancer and sickle cell learning centres. Grantnells, UK continues to supply us with trays to store the resources in and Edx EDucation continues to supply us with all mathematical manipulatives. We obtained 2nd hand trays from the National Police Aid Charity in the UK and Gratnells supplied us with new lids. These were used to store maths resources in the learning centres at the hospitals. The trays were shipped out to the Uk by Tag Rugby Trust in their container. In December 2022 we held a Movie Night fundraiser in Melbourne. This gave us an opportunity to give the charity more exposure and to raise funds.

Explanation of any
uncertainties
about the charity
continuing as a
going concern
Para 1.23 In the foreseeable future it is still uncertain if we are able to obtain
more volunteers due to rising costs throughout the world. Due to
basic living costs rising, the projects to run are becoming more
expensive and there are less people donating money and people may
not have the spare money to volunteer on a project.
