## **Aim and Purpose**

Greenwich Tritons is an accessible grassroots community triathlon club based in south east London, with an emphasis on participation, friendship and fun. We welcome members of all abilities and aim to help everyone achieve their individual triathlon goals in a supportive and enjoyable environment.

Our Junior section aims to give children a taste of triathlon, support their progress in the sport, and provide them with a safe and encouraging environment in which to train and compete.

## **Activities**

We organise weekly training sessions for all abilities, including coached swim, run and cycle sessions and regular group cycle rides. This is supplemented by informal group activities on our thriving Whatsapp communities.

Every month we have a 5 km handicap race on Blackheath Common which provides an opportunity for our seniors and juniors of all abilities to complete inclusively. We also organise an annual junior Aquathlon at Colfe’s School in Lee.

We host a range of social events throughout the year including our Annual Celebration Dinner for seniors and Christmas party for juniors. These bring the club together to celebrate progression and comebacks as well as podium finishes.

Club kit is available to purchase at cost, and we offer bike boxes for members to hire for races and training camps.

## **Achievements and Performance**

We are hugely proud of the performance of all our members, adult and junior, whether taking part in their first event, completing their first long distance triathlon or competing at the highest level in European and World Age Group Series for Great Britain.

Our dedicated coaching team continues to support athletes of all abilities through thoughtful, ‑ ‑ inclusive training sessions and one to one guidance. This enabled many of our members to achieve their goals in races across the UK and overseas in 2025. We are very grateful for all the hours our coaches dedicate to the club inside and outside of training sessions.

‑ Each year we select a middle distance event to attend as a club, alternating between UK and overseas races. In 2025 our chosen UK event was the Vitruvian Middle Distance Triathlon, where a strong Tritons squad took on the challenging Rutland Water course with great performances across the board. We also had a brilliant turnout at the Eastbourne Standard Distance Triathlon and Ocean Tri Sprint Triathlon at Leybourne Lakes. These ‑ events showcased the depth and enthusiasm in the club, from first timers to seasoned athletes.

Alongside our triathlon events, we fielded a strong contingent at the Isle of Grain Cycle Time Trial, and many Tritons of all ages represented the club in the Kent Cross Country League as well as the London, Southern and and National Cross Country Championships.

The Greenwich Tritons Junior Aquathlon continues to be a highlight of the London Junior ‑ Triathlon Series. This year’s event was record breaking with 279 young athletes participating from across London and the South East. The event was delivered by an exceptional team of volunteers led by Howard Kee. This marked Howard’s final Aquathlon as Event Director, and the club wishes to express its sincere thanks for his dedication and service.

Our Juniors section is one of the biggest and most successful in London with many Tritons gaining selection for the Inter Regional Championships. It’s also been great to see some of our older juniors take their first steps into coaching this year.

## **Financial Review**

After another successful year with membership income increasing significantly and another great Junior Aquathlon event, the club remain on a solid footing and have had another positive financial year.

- 1) Income has seen a steady increase over the prior year up 12%, whilst costs have increased by 10%, including a write-down for stock.

- 2) As a result, the balance sheet remains healthy and has increased on the previous year

- 3) Swim venue costs remain a challenge for the club and will continue to do so in 2026 with continued price increases

- 4) Coaching costs have remained flat year on year and we continue to invest in Coaching courses

2025/6 will be a challenging year. Whilst membership looks to be improving slightly, costs are likely to increase by more - particularly due the impact of increasing fuel costs on

swimming venue hire. At this stage the committee is keen to avoid any changes to either annual subscription costs or to increase fees for swimming.

## **Volunteers**

Greenwich Tritons is run mainly by volunteers, with a small number of paid part-time coaches. Many thanks to everyone who has given up their time this year to contribute to our thriving community club.
