Annual Report for year from 1st July 2021 to 30[th] June 2022.

1. Introduction

Reepham Lions Club was Chartered in October 2018 by the Lions Club International. This followed local consultations and invaluable support and guidance from the Lions District Governor and Taverham and District Lions Club.

It was formed to provide support to the community, small organisations and individuals in need of help, with priority given to the area in and around Reepham, Norfolk.

This took the form, mainly, of raising funds to provide support for identifiable projects.

In February 2020 the Club was awarded Charitable Incorporated Organisation status, number 1188270.

July 2021, The Club assisted Reepham W.I. at an outdoor sale of craft materials, and started our Summer Raffle.

July 2021, a garden swimming pool was donated to a family to help with their daughter’s mobility and seizure issues, which had been recommended by her Consultant doctor. It brought substantial benefits to her health.

July 2021, The Club once again provided a children orientated fete, in collaboration with The Bircham Centre charity, to celebrate Norfolk Day. There were free games and ice creams for the children and sale of refreshments for adults.

August 2021, The Club held a food orientated tombola at the Reepham Food Festival, and concluded our Summer Raffle.

December 2021, The Club organised Reepham’s first Christmas Tree Festival, with support from the Parochial Church Council, in St. Mary’s Church. It started on the same day as the Reepham Festival of Light and continued for three further days. It proved to be very popular as a community event, and also a surprisingly good fund raiser, from sponsorship and visitor donations. As planned the net proceeds were shared equally with the PCC.

December 2021, Donation of £100 worth of toys, for disadvantaged children, to the Central England Coop Store charity, in Reepham.

March 2022, A £250 donation was given to the North Norfolk Foodbank

April 2022, The Club held a tombola at the Reepham Food Festival.

May 2022, Reepham Lions Club made a major contribution to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, by organising, catering, preparing and providing the individually prepared and packaged sandwich teas, with cakes provided by the W.I., for 250 people. The event was led by the Town Council.

May 2022, We donated two benches to The Bircham Centre to be placed in the front garden, overlooking the Market Place, to enable people to sit together and socialise.

Throughout the year we collected used spectacles which were sent to Chichester Lions Club in two batches, for transportation to people in need in third world countries.

9. Conclusion

This has proved to be a year when we have successfully served our locality and made a positive difference to many people’s lives.

Ann Graham,

President, Reepham Lions Club.
