Annual Report for the period from February 2020 to 30[th] June 2021

1. Introduction

Reepham Lions Club was Chartered in October 2018 by The Lions Club International. This was following local consultations with the people of Reepham, Norfolk, and invaluable support and guidance by Taverham and District Lions Club and its Members, and the Lions District Governor.

It was formed to provide support to the community, small organisations and individuals in need of help, with priority given to the area in and around Reepham, Norfolk.

This took the form, mainly, of raising funds and providing financial support for identifiable projects.

In February 2020 the Club was successfully awarded Charitable Incorporated Organisation status, number 1188270.

  1. The Trustees of the charity are elected from the membership annually, and comprise the President, the Secretary, the Treasurer and a representative of the membership.

A Club Service group, comprising Club Members, considers future local activities, applications for funding from individuals and community groups, and makes recommendations to the meeting of the full Club membership.

The Club Members’ meeting is held monthly to conduct business, including granting financial support, fund raising, and the provision of community activities.

  1. The governing documents of this charity are as provided by Lions Clubs International, Multi District 105 Lions, British Isles, and were adopted on the 7[th] November 2019.

  2. This charity exists to provide public benefit, by supporting individuals and community groups, and providing activities in support of our local community.

  3. Achievements of this charity during this reporting period, which starts at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic were hindered by the necessary restrictions, but are as follows:

  4. Financial and food donations to the North Norfolk foodbank.

  5. Granting funding to the Cawston Red Rose Football Club for Girls to enable purchase of football strips for the whole junior girls team.

  6. Granting funding to Reepham Scouts to purchase and refit their kitchen to a modern standard, to provide opportunities for children from around Norfolk, in addition to Scouting and Cub groups from across the County and beyond.

  7. Granting funding to support the work of Aylsham Community Gym.

  8. Purchasing an outdoor swimming pool, for a family with a daughter with debilitating neuro muscular disorders, to facilitate improvement in her movements and a reduction in neurological symptoms, as recommended by her Consultant.

  9. Working in support of Reepham W.I. at their Craft Materials sale, whilst also fundraising via the start of our Summer Raffle.

  10. Provision of the Norfolk Day celebrations in collaboration with The Bircham Centre charity. It took the form of a children orientated fete, with free games and ice creams for all children. The continuing summer raffle and the sale of refreshments, to adults, assisted our fundraising effort.

  11. At the Reepham Food Festival our Club collaborated with the Reepham Rotary Club, and held a food orientated Tombola and concluded our Summer Raffle.
