- MESSAGE FROM THE CEO 

It is my pleasure to share with you the third annual report of the KnownValuedLoved, highlighting what has been another incredibly exciting year of growth for us as a . charity Our team continues to grow in strength and capacity meaning we can do so much work and do it well! all of which we We have new church and corporate partners, . are incredibly grateful for It is so humbling when people become part of our journey . and share our passion to see lives rebuilt and communities restored 

. We have Our operations, courses and projects have all significantly developed additional resources to share with partners, new courses and exciting plans and ideas that are keeping us busy. Our fundraising has started to fall into some regular patterns, with WalkTheWalk our 50km and more , ( ) walk around the Peak District becoming an . annual event and a key fundraiser for us We have also had people take part in events such as the London Marathon and the Great North Run. Our annual , anniversary auction proved again to be a favourite this year, with additional support from staff at All of this contributes so much to our work Experian (one of our corporate partners). , . and encourages us so much that people are behind us

At KnownValuedLoved we believe that education is the key to seeing lives rebuilt and communities restored. Our aim is to develop, support and inform education provision in countries impacted by conflict to give young people the chance of a better future.

## ABOUT KNOWNVALUEDLOVED 

KnownValuedLoved was set up by Andy Ball in . February 2020 Andy has worked in education for 18 years, specialising in Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND), inclusion and behaviour. Andy has always had a heart to make a difference to more than one classroom of children at a time. The power that education has to change lives is the driving force behind the charity, along with a passion to bring hope and opportunity to those that are overlooked, marginalised and impacted by things outside out of their control. Andy left his job as an Assistant Head at a large secondary school in order to fully dedicate his time to and setting up establishing KnownValuedLoved and says that the opportunity to . lead this charity is a dream come true 




## EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 

We believe that every child has the right to an education , however many children are being denied . this right due to conflict This is particularly . prevalent across the Middle East 

it is estimated that over 2 million In Syria alone, 1 in children are displaced as a result of hostilities; every 3 schools are now damaged, destroyed or inaccessible and over 400 000 teachers are no ; , . longer in service 

Restoration of this nature takes long term dedication , and this is why we are committed to establishing KnownValuedLoved in a sustainable way; that will empower communities to make lasting . change 




OUR MISSION We believe education is the key to seeing lives rebuilt and communities impacted . by conflict restored

For all young people in communities impacted by conflict to have the opportunity to receive a - high quality education, as is their basic human . right OUR VISION 



ACCESS Ensuring all young people (in communities impacted inclusive by conflict) have access to a high quality, education. 

QUALITY Ensuring that the education on offer is high quality and adds value to life chances. Providing greater opportunities for young people to progress and improve the quality of their own life and the . communities they live in ADVOCACY We advocate for the value of and right to an education for all people, regardless of circumstances.

- Training teachers in all aspects of inclusion we have developed inclusive practice programmes which . include behaviour management and SEND 

- covers Our bespoke teacher training programme like character things planning, development, lesson content leadership qualities, , learning behaviours short/ , long term memory and information retention. 

Training and mentoring school leaders around . sustainable school improvement 

– Full school leadership programme including school values , policies and practice, managing staff, . classroom layout and  lesson observations We support other NGO charities to add education such as after provision into their existing provision, school clubs . , English lessons and play sessions We help to finance school improvements to make them accessible.. 

1 in 4 children leave education without being able to read or write 

Ensuring all young people (in communities impacted by conflict) have access to a high inclusive quality, education. 



## Less than 2% of global humanitarian aid goes towards education

## PURPOSE & ACTIVITIES 

We have grown considerably over the past three years. We continue to develop key areas of our work focusing on teacher training materials and teacher and support staff professional development. We have also contributed to building costs , building adaptations, project . costs and salary costs 

## Grant Giving Partnership 

Our grant programme exists to support education schools NGOs providers ( , , informal education settings) to improve the access to education in their or both. community,  the quality of education available, or This is partly achieved by the provision of grants ( the where a direct financial transaction is not possible, provision of resources). All grants are applied for by the education provider and need to demonstrate how or the funds or resources aim to improve access to, the quality of education available to the community 

Education Development Programme We support education providers by working with and supporting school leaders and teachers. Our Education Development Programme is the core element of what we do as a charity.  The model focuses on sustainable school improvement, through working alongside senior leaders from schools , education providers and local NGOs.

WHAT WE HAVE ACHIEVED IN YEAR 3 

Our CEO has visited projects . for the first time this year His visits have included Lebanon India and , Iraq, , Burundi. 

We have launched the second round of training in Kurdistan more , meaning teachers have been equipped with the skills to promote higher quality education. 

This year has seen two new employees being added to the KVL team , along with . multiple volunteers 

Working in Afghanistan, we have supported 'Girls out of Education'. 

we have Over the past year, spent time recruiting new Board members to ensure and will continue diversity, with this over the course of . the next year 

This year has seen a lot of progress being made on developing the educational documents that provide invaluable resources to the education settings that KVL . supports 




## FUNDRAISING 

– Birthday Fundraising Our can supporters make a gift donation in their name to mark their birthday through a text . message service 

– Christmas Card sales A local artist has created and illustrated bespoke Christmas cards for KnownValuedLoved with a percentage of the sales . being donated 

– WalktheWalk In June 2022 25 , people walked 50km around , the local Chesterfield area. This is an annual event and plans are already in place for this to be completed in 2023 £3 Weekend/Small – Sacrifice Sunday We asked our supporters to a small give up weekend treat and , instead donate £3 to the . charity 

- Corporate Partnerships Silent Auction In – In 2022 we we held , February 2022,, established our first our second successful corporate partnership virtual silent auction.. with Experian. This has - Cup Of Hope We have bought in many new partnered with Peak as links and supporters, Bean UK who have well as fundraising created a unique blend opportunities

- Cup Of Hope We have partnered with Peak Bean UK who have created a unique blend for KnownValuedLoved called Cup of Hope. 15% of every purchase of this unique blend is then donated to KnownValuedLoved. 

– Amazon Smile We asked that people set up an Amazon Smile account , meaning that every time they shop a donation is made to KnownValuedLoved. 



## GRANT GIVING PARTNERSHIP 

In line with our Constitution , we now have a funding allocation available for the Grant Giving Partnership, . which has developed and grown 

This will allow KnownValuedLoved to make grants to others.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE & MANAGEMENT 


## Governing document 

Under the charities Act 2011 KnownValuedLoved , was given charity status and began it's charitable work on 28th February 2020.  In the creation of the charity, Trustees were sought for having a strong empathy to the education needs and justice of others. Skills and experience were sought in relevant areas. Ongoing Trustees recruitment is completed using online platforms such as Reach the KnownValuedLoved website and Volunteering, LinkedIn. Any potential new Trustees qualities and skills are aligned with the Trustee skills audit and following a successful interview are approved by the . Trustees prior to their term commencing 

Risk management The Trustees will periodically review important areas of risk. In particular, safeguarding is already . recognised when dealing with vulnerable individuals such as skills Other  risks are regularly reviewed, . and financial procedures 



## RUNNING THE CHARITY 


The Board of Trustees have terms of reference which state that it and that decisions must meet three times a year at the minimum, or a third of must be made by at least two members of the Board, its members .The Board has met , depending on which is greater and each three times during the period covered by this report, . meeting was quorate 

At the meetings, discussions are had around strategy, policy, finance . areas of activity, , performance and risk The day to day management activities are delegated to the Chief Executive Officer. The Trustees give their time voluntarily and receive no benefit. It is expected that Trustees continue to receive training to keep up to date with Charities Commission requirements and . best practice Trustees are periodically refereed to the Charities . Commission publications on responsibilities and good practice 




## FINANCIAL OVERVIEW 

£18 870 KnownValuedLoved had an opening balance of , , and received an income of £27 206. , During the financial . £31 £2 250 year , 848 was spent on expenditures and , was spent on grant funding, leaving a bank balance at £11 978. This included the the end of the financial year of , £5 996 and £5 982 of unrestricted charity reserves of , , funds. as detailed below 

## Reserves Policy 

Considering the impact of the global pandemic and the the Trustees negative impact on the third sector, consider it prudent to maintain reserves to cover monthly . outgoings At the end of the financial year the charity reserves were £5 996. , This money is held in a savings . account with Lloyds Bank This account is added to every month and will continue to increase until the Reserves . Policy is met This money has not had to be used within . this financial year
