Achievements and Performance

Entering its third year of operation, AWA DANCE CIO has continued to fight the gender imbalance in leadership positions with the UK Dance sector. The charity's income has more than doubled since the previous financial year meaning more projects were able to take place with even more women and girls reached through our programmes.

New programmes included Leadership Breakfasts, AWA Blog and International Day of the Girl celebrations. AWA DANCE also produced its first artistic creation, Let Them Eat Cake!, which has won multiple awards at film festivals around the world. Due to the easing of restrictions, AWA DANCE were also able to hold their first in person event. This year’s Women in Dance Leadership Award Ceremony took place in a hybrid format in person at Sadler’s Wells, London and online via Remo.

Outside of its programmes, AWA DANCE has undergone a period of organisational development thanks to funding from Arts Council England. This funding period has enabled the organisation to increase its workforce incorporating three part time members of staff as well as additional consultants in fundraising, marketing and organisational strategy.

Over the 12 months AWA DANCE has:
