|---|---|---|
|Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document|Para 1.17|We aim to provide the means for the people
of Kibblesworth and surrounding areas to
participate in healthy recreation in order to
support mental and physical wellbeing. The
facilities are valuable local amenities given
that Kibblesworth is not well served with
public transport services.|
|Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or services
identified in the accounts.|Para 1.17 and
1.19|We maintain the bowling green to a high
standard and it is free to use by all members
of the local community.
We provide the equipment needed to play
bowls.
Fun days and bowling tournaments are
organised, these events are open to all
although there is an entry fee for
tournaments.
We also host dedicated sessions for those
with complex learning difficulties.
The bowling green is home to Kibblesworth
Bowling Club, fees paid by members of the
club make up the majority of the annual
running costs.|
|Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit|Para 1.18|Trustees provided with copies of the
guidance notes. Regular trustee meetings
take place to discuss issues/concerns that
arise.|

## **Achievements and performance**

|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|The bowling green was once again open for
the entire bowling season and maintained to
the high standard we have come to expect
due to the commitment and dedication of our
volunteers. In 2023 we hosted members of
the Phoenix project, a support organisation
for those with complex learning difficulties;
we had the privilege of supporting this group
again this year. This year we were better
equipped to offer this support, in particular
due to acquiring a wheelchair and improving
the access ramp to the facility.|
|---|---|---|

## **Additional information (optional)** You may choose to include further statements where relevant about:

|Achievements against
objectives set|Para 1.41|Uneven surface on the access ramp has
been repaired and a hazardous set of steps
removed.|
|---|---|---|
|Performance of fundraising
activities against objectives
set|Para 1.41|We altered our fee structure in order to make
it more attractive for new bowlers. A lower
membership fee augmented by a pay-as-
you-play subscription has resulted in a
further increase in membership but also to
an overall increase in membership monies
compared to the previous year.
The purchase of new mowers means that we
can be confident in our capability to maintain|

the green for many years to come (previous mower being end of life). Having 2 good mowers means that multiple volunteers can now help with grass cutting, reducing the overall time and effort required. Para 1.41 Investment performance against objectives Other

## **Financial review**

|Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period|Para 1.21|The charity holds £20376 at the end of
September 2024. These funds are
designated to be spent on additional
improvements to the surrounding path and to
further improve access to the bowling green.
We plan to upgrade the perimeter of the
green to remove a strip of grass to deliver
two main benefits:
improve safety for volunteers maintaining the
area surrounding the bowling green;
reduce overall maintenance costs and effort
by making it harder for weeds to spread to
the playing surface.
Funds are also designated to purchase
indoor carpet bowling equipment. This will
allow us to offer some service to the local
community throughout winter by hosting
bowling sessions in local community centres.
Additionally, this equipment will make it
easier for us to engage with local schools.
As part of this endeavour, we have
designated finds to allow volunteers to
become certified coaches.|
|---|---|---|
|Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held|Para 1.22|Money held so that we have the ability to
respond to any issues that could lead to the
playing surfaces becoming unplayable.|
|Amount of reserves held|Para 1.22|£1000|

## **Additional information (optional)**

## You may choose to include further statements where relevant about:

|The charity’s principal
sources of funds (including
any fundraising)|Para 1.47|This year has saw a massive boost in our
income. Grants totalling £30834 were
received. Local fundraising resulted in over
£8500 being donated locally, in recognition
of the value that the bowling green brings to
the village and surrounding areas.|
|---|---|---|
|Investment policy and
objectives including any
social investment policy
adopted|Para 1.46|None|
|A description of the principal
risks facing the charity|Para 1.46|We have wide local support for the work we
do and the service that we provide. As we
grow, we will require additional storage
space for the equipment.
Major risks associated with safety (trip
hazards) and ability to maintain the green
have been mitigated by either work done, or
work planned for the winter of 24-25. A
major disadvantage of the facility is a lack of
shelter; as the number of people using the
green increases, we do not want to see them
being discouraged by having nowhere to
take shelter when there is a passing shower
of rain, for example.|
