The trustees who served during the year and up to the date of this report are set out above. The organisation received charitable status approval as a CIO on 24th February 2020. ## **Structure, governance and management** The Charity is managed by trustees who are appointed and in line with the charity's governing document. ## **Governing Document** The charity is governed by its Constitution. ## **Objectives and activities** The main purpose and objects of the charity are set out in the governing document as follows: The advancement of the Christian faith in accordance with the doctrine set out in the underwritten Fourth Schedule and the worship of God in the county of Swansea and in such other parts of the United Kingdom or the World and elsewhere by any means whatsoever including (but not by way of limitation) the preaching and proclamation of the Christian gospel, the teaching of the Christian Doctrine and principles, the pastoral care of Christian people and the printing and distribution of the Bible and Christian literature including video, and audio recordings and by any other media which is, or may become, available; The relief of persons who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress or who are aged or sick and the promotion and preservation of good health by the provision of funds, goods or services of any kind including through the provision of training, counselling and support in the county of Swansea and in such other parts of the United Kingdom or the World and elsewhere as the trustees may from time to time think fit; 4 **Gower New Life Church** Charity Number: 1188131 Company Number: CE020823 ## **Achievements and performance** ## **Sunday Services and Teaching Ministry** Our Sunday services help us to fulfill our vision of “Following Jesus and Growing Together.” Our core activities consist of providing a contemporary worship experience, relevant Bible teachings, and fellowship. One of the most common pieces of feedback we get from our Sunday service visitors is that “it feels like family.” This is a real encouragement, as being a church family where all generations can belong and feel at home is one of our core values. Our Sunday messages focus heavily on the more excellent way, the Holy Spirit, and the Kingdom. Over the past year, key teaching series included "Seeking the Kingdom & Taking the Land," "Hearing God's Voice," "Building the Core Team" (using the Gideon model), overcoming internal obstacles, and "Spiritual Birthing." We also put a greater emphasis on fellowshipping and spending more time together after the service to encourage each other, strengthen our faith in God, and build our relationships with one another. ## **Key Events and Community Activities (May 2024 – June 2025)** Throughout the year, we engaged heavily in community outreach, spiritual growth, and regional fellowship: - **Encounter Meetings:** Launched in May 2024 at Oxwich / Penrice Hall and continuing monthly, these gatherings invited believers across Gower for a dedicated time of prayer, worship, and waiting on the Lord's presence. - **Community Engagement:** In July 2024, we participated in the Penarth Carnival, managing gates, collecting donations, and providing children's crafts. In August, we served drinks to participants of the Gower Bike Ride. We also continued our ongoing collections for the North Gower Food Bank. - **Regional Fellowship:** In October 2024, we participated in the Antioch Weekend in Oakland for a time of restoration alongside other churches, and we continued to engage with Swansea City Elders events. - **Evangelism & Alpha Course:** We hosted a highly successful Community Carol Service at Penarth Parish Hall in December. This helped launch our Alpha course in January 2025 at the Gower Inn. The course ran through February and culminated in a celebratory meal, transitioning beautifully into ongoing house group meetings at the 5 **Gower New Life Church** Charity Number: 1188131 Company Number: CE020823 same venue. - **Equipping Believers:** By June 2025, one of our church members had joined the Restore School of Ministry to further their spiritual education and equipping. ## **Youth Ministry** As a family church, investing in youth is very important to us. We continue to include them at the beginning of the Sunday service by sharing Bible stories via videos, followed by an action song and dance, engaging the whole congregation—we like to call it our “workout” at the beginning of the service! Our young people are highly active: they helped manage gates at the Penarth Carnival, performed sketches for our family Easter celebration at the Gower Inn, and volunteer in children’s church. Notably, Joshua participated in the Shine film series and has shared more during Sunday services. Some of our youth have even started to preach successfully during services, and this will continue to grow. Where possible, we organize occasional outings for fun activities in their own age group. ## **Children Ministry** Our children’s ministry is aimed at those between the ages of 5 and 11. We are committed to teaching God’s word to all ages, giving children a firm foundation in scripture. Through instructional Bible study, crafts, fun games, and memory verses, we seek to convey God’s truth in a lively, interactive, and understandable way. Ignite meets on a Sunday morning during the normal meeting time. ## **Prayer Ministry** The prayer team meets weekly, bringing church and community needs, issues, and requests to God. We believe that everything we do needs to be underpinned by prayer. We focus on committing concerns to God, listening for His leading so we can act in His power, and thanking Him for answered prayers and direction. In the future, we plan to make prayer more accessible to our community so they can also experience the power of prayer in their own lives and draw closer to the love of God. We believe that God cares for every member of our community and wants to meet them at their points of need. 6 **Gower New Life Church** Charity Number: 1188131 Company Number: CE020823 ## **Financial review** During the financial year ending 24 May 2025, the charity recorded total incoming resources of £5,122.25, primarily generated through regular donations, tithes, and offerings. Total operating expenses for the year amounted to £5,825.49. When combined with the noncash depreciation charge of £2,566.00, total resources expended were £8,391.49. This resulted in a net deficit of -£3,269.24 for the year. However, due to careful financial management in previous years, the total funds carried forward remain healthy at £12,234.84, providing a secure foundation for the charity's ongoing operations. ## **Policy on reserves** The reserves policy is to keep a minimum in general funds to cover 3 month's operating costs. ## **Plans for Future Periods** - Continuing to develop Sunday Church expressions and midweek Life Groups. - Expanding community support initiatives and outreach in the Gower area. ## **Statement of trustees' responsibilities** The trustees are responsible for preparing the annual report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice. Law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of charity's financial activities during the year and of its financial position at the end of the year. In preparing financial statements giving a true and fair view, the trustees are required to: - select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently; - make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; and - prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation. The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. Trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. Accounting policies** The principal accounting policies are summarised below. The accounting policies have been applied consistently throughout the year. ## **2.1 Incoming resources** All incoming resources are included in the statement of financial activities when the charity is entitled to the income and the amount can be quantified with reasonable accuracy. The following specific policies are applied to particular categories of income: - Voluntary income is received by way of donations and gifts and is included in full in the Statement of Financial Activities when receivable. - Tax Reclaims are included in the SoFA when they are received by the organisation. - Grants, including grants for the purchase of fixed assets, are recognised in full in the Statement of Financial Activities in the year in which they are receivable. ## **2.2 Resources expended** Expenditure is recognised on an accrual basis as a liability is incurred. Expenditure includes any VAT which cannot be fully recovered, and is reported as part of the expenditure to which it relates. Resources expended are recognised in the year in which they are incurred.
