OWECTIVES AND AcrivmES
The objective of the Broadstairs and St Peter's Heritage Foundation is to advance the
education in the historical heritage of Broadstairs and St Peter's, in particular by:
collecting and preserving artefacts and documents relating to the area
maintaining an up to date online photographic archive
collecting and publishing associated information, including oral and written records
providing an educational resource by staging exhibitions, talks and other events
providing a heritage Cent￿ for locals and visitors
recording. pre5eNin9 and disseminating the historical memories of those living in the
area
We continue to maintain momentum by clarifying what is required to move the Foundation
forward. In planning our activities for the year we kept in mind the Charity Commission's
guidance on public benefit at our trustee meetings.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
January Saw the volunteer team come together to discuss next steps and how to best USÈ
funds granted to the project to continue the archiving, photography and datsbase work for
the rest of the year and to have a clear pathway to progress.
We always knew that the process would be an on-going one, reliant mostly on volunteers to
carry out the work. Many of those volunteers for an assortment of reasons were unable to
support us as they did last year. A campaign to recruit new volunteers including editorial
coverage and social media locally was carried out and began to throw up more interested
enthusiasts from our community.
We discussed and acknowledged the need for more expert help and brought in an external
paid consultant with a track ￿0rd in similar projects. He supported and supplemented our
work to date, liaised with our website Co., helped us make headway and have a clearer path
towards the eventual launch of the website. We were able to fund the photography and
consultancy from reserves.
Throughout the year, we met face to face, but more often on zoom allowin9 for
geographical constraints, to check and input views around the user interface, continued to
photograph items, documents and photographs donated to the Foundation.
Our aims for the coming year are to continue to find time to review and continue to capture
digitally batches of the remaining items in our possession. Recruiting additional volunteers
will be an on-going tssk too.
Applying for additional, new grants from specialist grant givers in the Heritage space to
continue the work will also be a focus- all towards a launch plan for 2027.
