Trustees Annual Report for the period 1 August 2024 to 31 July 2025

Collingham and District Men in Sheds, also known as The Shed @ Collingham Registered Charity # 1188119

Address:

Unit 1 Gusto House Green Ways Collingham NG24 7DX

Trustees during this period:

Dr Richard Challand Dr Derrick Watson Dr Desmond Williams Mr Jerome Wright

The Governing document for this Charity was adopted at an Annual General Meeting 20 November 2019 and has remained unchanged since then.

The Charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation

Purpose of the Charity:

For the purpose of this clause 'socially excluded' means being excluded from society, or parts of society, as a result of one of more of the following factors: unemployment; financial hardship; youth or old age; ill health (physical or mental).

The charity trustees have complied with the duty in section 4 of the 2006 Act to have due regard to guidance on public benefit published by the Commission.

During this reporting period we have maintained support for our membership by providing a safe working environment for them to pursue numerous projects of benefit to the wider community such as the clock repairs, construction of min-libraries, numerous planters, signs for community gardens, gear teeth for a local windmill and several hedgehog boxes. Providing training for wood turning remains very popular.

We were also successful in obtaining Government funding to increase the size of our workshop space and thus increase the technical scope of our offering. In addition to our previous focus on woodwork we now have a team of glass workers and the ability to also offer jewellery work, 3D printing and laser etching. As a result our membership has grown by 60%.

Financial Review:

Our policy remains that we should retain sufficient funds to ensure the coverage of two years estimated operating costs – currently this is £7,785.

Outside of the Government funding of our extension project, we had an income of £20,027 against an expenditure of £17,146. Total reserves currently stand in excess of our minimum requirement.

Signed for the Trustees

D J Watson
