The Charit￿5 objectives are to promote, maintain, Improve and &lvance education and appreciattoft of the arts,
in particular but not exdusivély, the perfomiing arts of theatre, drama and muslc.
In setting obieGtives and planning for activites. the Trustees have given due consideration to general guidance
pubiished by the Charity Commisslon relating to ptsblic benefit, including the guidance'Public benefit.. ntnning a

The charity was set up was the covid related national lockd￿￿ began therefore our Work was limited In
the first year.
Supporters and followers of the thèkn company donated to help keep the charity liquld.
We did commit to some to further charitable objecL In January 2021 rec4ived Arts Council
England funding to run an online wDt*shop series to bring arts and culture into pwjles homes through live
zoom workshops and P￿ recorded shthvs.
The ¢harity also recetved funding from the Natlonal Academy for Social Prexrfbing to Ih)st live theatre
VA)rkshops and shws in Sheffield as Ictkdown eased in 2021.
We are happy with the achieved through a dlfflcult year and expect to be ￿tIng Ferfoman¢e and
more live theatrical events in 2022.

After making appropriate anqulrfes, the Trustees have a reasonable eXP￿￿tion that the Charity has adequ*e

As the Charity has onw fKentFy registered. It is still in the process pf accumulating reserves and fomulatlng a
resetve policy.
. Flnan¢lal r•sults
In the Charity's first period of activtty, it receNed donations plus gift aid totalling £15,024, as well as a grant
from Arts Council England of £8,604. Total income w85 £23,630 and expeTrSitiJre during ts pericrfj £501,
leaving a surplus of £23,129 carrigj foThvard in general funds.

The management of the Charlty 1$ the resFonsibilty of the Trustees vtho are ekcted and under the tems of the

The Trustees are resFC)nsible for preparing the Trustees, report and the financial statements in accordance with
appllcable law and United Kingdom Accounting standards {United Kingdom Generally AC￿pted Ac￿unting
Practice).
The law appltcable trj charitses in England & Wales requires the Trustees to prepare financial statements for
each ffnancial period vthich give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Charity and of its incoming
resour¢e$ and application of resources, including its income and expenditure. ftjr Ihat period. In preparing these
financial statements. the Trustees are required to:
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently:

make ludgments and accounting estimates that are reasonable and pruden(

and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply vlith the Charities Act 2011, the Charity
(Accounts and Reports) Regu18tions 2008 and the provisions of the Trust de&J. They are also resF¢)nsible for
safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevenlion dete¢t¢on

2.1 Basls of pr•paratlon olflnanclal stat•m•nts
The financial stateff*nts have been prepared in a¢￿dance with the Charities SORP IFRS 1021-
Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities
preparing their accounts in a(urdan￿ wth the Financial Repoitng Standard appli¢able in the UK
and Republlc of Ireland (FRS 1021 {effe¢tive 1 January 2019), the Finanaal Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Repuuic of IfelaThd {FRS 102) and the Charities Act 2011.
The financial statements have been prepath to give a 'true and fair, view and have departed from
the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only to the extent required to provide a 'true
and fai¢ view. This departure has involved following the Charities SORP IFRS 1021 published in
October 2019 rather than the Accounting and ReFOrting by Charities: Statement of ReComn￿nded
Practice effective from 1 April 2005 which has since been wthdrawn.
The Handlebards CIO meets the definstion of a public benefft entity under FRS 102. Assets and
liabilrties are initially re(x)gnised at historical cost or transactFon value unless otherwise stated in the
relevant accounting poli￿.
2.2 Golng ¢onMrn
After making appropriate enquiri6s. th8 Trustees have a reasonable expectation that the Charity has
adequate resources to continue in opgrational existence for the foreseeable fvture. For this reason,
they continu8 to adopt the going ￿nCern basts in preparlng the Ilnawal statements.
2.3 In¢ome
All income is rewnisad once the Chkn has entiUem6nt to the Income, It is Fffobable that the
in¢ome will be received and the amount of income receiv8ble can be measured reliably.
Grants and donatbns are included in the statement ot financial activities on a receivable basis.

E4)enditur6 Is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to transfer economi¢
benefit to a thlrd paty, it is probable that a transfer of economic beneffits will be required in
settlement and the amount of the obltgation can be measured rellably.
All expenditure is inclusive of irrecoverable VAT.

Trade and other debtors are recg)gnised at the 5etilement amount after any tr*le discount offered.
Prepayments are valued at the amount prepaid net of any trade discounts due.

The Chartty only has financial assets and financlal liabillties of a kind that qualify as basic financial
instruments. Basic financial instruments are initially rerx)gnised at transaction value and
subsequenuy measured at their settlement value with the exception of bank loans Nthtch are
subsequentiy measured at aM0￿sed cost using the 8￿tive interest m8th0d.
2.9 Fund ac¢ounOng
General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion of the Trustees in
furtherance of the general objectives of the Charity aKI vthich have not been designated for Ixher
