Annual Report on LearnXtra Charitable Activities

Charity number: 1188103 1st May 2021 - 30 April 2022

Learn Xtra is a registered charity committed to providing educational support and activities for children and young people from diverse backgrounds.

The charity's activities for the year under review included:

Mental Health First Aid Training

Mental Health First Aid Training was conducted for 12 volunteers and community mentors as part of Learn Xtra's commitment to promoting mental health awareness amongst our volunteers and to ensure our team . The training aimed to equip our volunteers and mentors with the knowledge and skills to recognize the signs of mental health issues and provide effective support to affected students. Feedback from participants indicated that the training was informative, interactive, and practical. Participants expressed confidence in their ability to recognize mental health issues and provide support to affected students.

Holiday Club Activities

The holiday club activities aimed to engage children aged 5-12 from ethnic minority communities, including South Asian, African, and Arab communities. The activities included sports, arts and crafts, music, dance, and drama. The holiday club provided an opportunity for children to socialize, learn new skills, and have fun during the summer break. Feedback from parents and participants indicated that the holiday club was well-organized, safe, and enjoyable. Parents appreciated the opportunity for their children to learn about different cultures and make new friends. Overall we had 85 kids participate in the programme during our activities -

Mentoring Programme

Learn Xtra also offered a mentoring programme for 13-21 year olds, combined with careers advice and coding classes. The programme aimed to provide young people with the guidance and skills needed to succeed in their chosen fields. Feedback from 23 participants indicated that the programme was beneficial in building their confidence and enhancing their skills.

Inter-generational Tree Planting and Environmental Walks

Learn Xtra organized inter-generational tree planting and environmental walks to promote environmental awareness and sustainability. These activities included planting trees and learning about the importance of protecting the environment. Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to contribute to the environment and learn about the importance of environmental protection.

Conclusion Learn Xtra's activities for the year have been a great success in a post-Covid-19 environment, and demonstrates the charity's commitment to promoting education, mental health, social cohesion, and environmental awareness among children, young people, and the wider community.

The Mental Health First Aid Training for community volunteers and mentors, the holiday club activities, the mentoring programme, and the environmental activities were successful in achieving their respective goals. The charity looks forward to continuing its work in providing educational support and activities for children and young people in the coming year.
