## **Background And History**

Bridlington Pride was founded and established with purpose to:

- promote equality and diversity for the public benefit, and in particular, the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity of those living in Bridlington and the surrounding areas.

- deliver an annual Bridlington Pride event, which will be a live music event marketed at the LGBT+ community, but inclusive of all.

## **Activities**

For the majority of the 20/21 financial year, Bridlington Pride could not hold any events due to the Covid -19 restrictions, and so again, could not deliver the main pride event that it had hoped for.

On Wednesday 30 June 2021, a meeting was held at the Bridlington Spa, with local services and businesses to invite volunteers and support for the newly arranged First Pride Event in July 2022. From this meeting, three new trustees were elected with two becoming co-chairpersons.

As a result of the Covid-19 lockdowns, there were lots of interest in a youth group that was planned. In September 2021, Bridlington Pride held a consultation evening with young people in the area, as well as local services and representatives from Humberside Police. From this, the new LGBTQIA+ youth group, B.A.M. was formed for children aged 11-17.

As at the end of the financial period ending 19/12/2021, Bridlington Pride had Christmas parties, the launch party and the main pride event planned for the forthcoming year.
